Well saturday we all go to England for 2 weeks to visit my family for the christmas holidays. It always seems strange going back as its been a yr since i last saw everyone, except my mother, i saw her in october. Plus i feel nervous traveling with our son as hes only 9 months, does anyone know the restrictions on hand luggage lately? We have to take nursery water for his formula, are there any limitations on baby items? sorry been a worrywart here :)

When Nani traveled to Ethiopia with Naomi, you wouldn't believe the hand luggage she dragged along. There was the oversized diaper bag, her oversized purse, a 20" carry-on and the stroller. The folks at United (her connecting flight to DC) were a bit uneasy about it but let it slip. Ethiopian airlines is rather accommodating when it comes to folks traveling with infants.

As a rule of thumb, you can carry the diaper bag, formula, water, baby foods and whatnot in addition to your regular carry-on. They'll take your stroller at the gate when you board. If you have bought a seat for your baby, you can also drag a baby car-seat onto the plane. Otherwise, they'll take that one at the gate, too, if you want to take one along. And then you get to carry one check-in for the infant on international flights as well. Check with your airline on size and weight restrictions for that one. And ask them if they have a bassinet available for the baby. Nani said that the bassinet is what saved her 18 hour flight as Naomi was napping in there quite nicely.
