Yo, homebodies!

Well, the young gentlemen you see in the photo are my friends, NWA, which stands for Naked Without Afghans. Our respective record companies wanted us to record a "rip" fusion album, Straight Out! Re-Joyce, with them doing their thing, and me doing mine. It was to be remixed and released in 1995, but for some reason the project was abandoned! Which is a shame, because I thought that the xylophone and my vocals really improved their sound.

Anyway, the reason they're looking a bit annoyed in the picture is that the photo shoot lasted for an hour, and this picture was taken just after the photographer admitted that there hadn't been any film in the camera! It didn't bother me, but the boys said that they had somewhere to be.

All in all, they were very pleasant, but their affinity for cotton fabrics (jeans, for example) had me frustrated. That said, a couple wore satin, which is a start!

Love,

(F) Joyce (F)

Dear Joyce,

Thank you for the suggestions about what to wear! And while the outfits you selected are truly lovely, I was thinking I'd like something a bit dressier. Any more ideas?

Cool Whip frosting is settled! Any ideas for some classy wedding favors?

Thanks for the inspiration,

How about this beautiful jumpsuit? This brings out the blushing bride in all ladies!

Dear Joyce,

What does it take for a chick to be a modern, liberated woman in the 21st century? Enquiring minds want to know. Just wondering if my wife makes the grade or has some work to do.

Dear Melinda:

Thanks for writing! And I'm pleased that you have taken note of my keen fashion sense. I've received a few questions about holiday attire, so I'm glad to picture my many readers attending holiday parties in fashionably cut polyester and other wonder fabrics! This classic white jumpsuit is one of my holiday favorites. You can replace the sunflower with something wintry, such as a pin made from an evergreen tree sprig:

Or, if you want something more formal and with long sleeves, how about this?

The woman's hair is a bit dated, but the design is classic!

Good luck, and get out the champagne! (or in my case, gin and tonics!)

Much luck and Cool Whip in 2008!

Love,

Dear Peejay:

Thanks for writing! Well, I'm sure that your wife is a lovely gal on the go. How do you determine whether she's a modern, liberated woman? Can your wife answer Yes to at least four of these questions? If so, then she's a modern woman! Kudos to her! (and to you!)

(1) Is her wardrobe at least 85% synthetic? Cottons are acceptable for undergarments. Even I, great proponent of polyester, prefer underwear with a cotton crotch.

(2) Does she own at least four pantsuits and two jumpsuits? Is at least one paisley? (bonus for paisley)

(3) Has she ever beaten a man at tennis or tetherball?

(4) Does she own a megaphone?

(5) Can she whip up a delicious fondue while in a purple leotard, doing stretches?

That reminds me, I haven't seen my leotard in a while. I better get cracking!

Love,

(F) Joyce (F)

p.s. Happy new year!

Dear Joyce,

Thank you so much for the reply and suggestions. I just love that jumpsuit. Any suggestions for shoes to go with this dynamic outfit? And by the way, I am sure to be the talk of this party in this snazzy outfit....

thanks again,

After looking at all these 70's jumpsuits, I am convinced that we will be seeing them back in style in no time. Totally serious...that brown one with the crazy pockets is super cute.

Indeed! A right-minded woman!

Fantastic! Boy, are the ladies going to be disappointed to learn that you're taken!

When I see a guy dressed like that, my knees turn to Cool Whip.

Dear Joyce,

I am so inspired by your holiday attire suggestions. Do you have any suggestions for formal wear for a big New Year's bash tomorrow? I want to look fabulous and to sparkle under the disco ball. Cause you know I'll be ringing in the New Year on that dance floor!

sincerely,

Disco Dreaming
