I agree, call the Egyptian Consulate, but you should also call USCIS, since they're the ones who initially must approve the application. You might want to make sure there are no rules against minors filing before you spend your money.

Well I think they've already gotten their NOA2 and now it's on to the consulate so the uscis has apparently given it the ok.

I really don't think there'll be a problem since the parents are giving their consent to all of the forms and support.

Do you go to school? I'm really having a hard time believing your parents would allow you to marry at 16!! And i'm more shocked at the embassy for giving you permission to marry. This is just unbelievable!!

It's not that uncommon in Egypt to marry even younger than this so it's really not that unbelievable. My husband's mother was 13 when she got married.

My speculative answer would be that it will be ok providing they have both proven they are legal to marry. Depending on the laws in the OP's state, if with parental consent, it is legal to marry at her age, then it's a legal petition.

At least they are the same age, or even in the same ballpark.

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted in quite a while. Just wanted to say to the OP you guys make a great couple. God Bless you for doing the right thing and getting married instead of shacking up or having premarital sex. I don't think it's fair to sling opinions - especially when off the topic. Before we judge ask ourselves this, how many of us older peeps went and engaged in premarital sex with our SO's??? How many of us had several sexual partners by the age of 17? My point is - God bless these young folks for doing things (in religious terms) the right way. The fact that the parents are blessing it is not a bad thing.

Anywho, if you received your NOA2 you're approved from here and if USCIS approved from here the consulate would have a hard time denying you if the age fact was already revealed in your inital application and approved by USCIS. However, similarly to what the other ladies said, it may not hurt to go ahead and email Cairo just to be sure.

Best of luck to you both and I pray you have a long blessed life together. Mashaallah

yes shes young and her first bf he will take good care of her and they will take lifes journey together. they will build respect for each other bc they are each others first. blessings to them for staying clean before marriage i believe that 100%.

Age wont matter babe in arab countries. in usa you just show written and legally stamped consent from your father and your mother. Dont worry about anything as long as you have parents behind you.

Yup.

I'm not sure what happens at the consulate, as she's not 18 yet, but if she has co-sponsors lined up she should be in good shape.

Yes, and if they don't meet a requirement then they have a co-sponsor, meaning someone who is eligible to sponsor along with the primary sponsor. If her age is a problem and she has a co sponsor then she's good to go.

The petitioner is supposed to be the primary sponsor, but I think the sponsor has to be at least 18 years old. I'm not sure how the fact that it isn't legally binding factors in to all of this.
