I typed on my K-1 application and then realize I forgot to write in my birth certificate number. So I just did it with black pen. Do you think this will cause an RFE?

Not at all, you are fine.

It's perfectly fine to fill something in after if you forgot something. Just as long as it's clear and legible.

Many have done it.

Also, I'm assuming you are talking about the I-129F Petition.

You only have to put your birth certificate number if you are a citizen through Naturalization.

Otherwise, you don't need to fill that in, just check "Birth in the US" and put N/A in the other box.

If you weren't born in the U.S. then it's required to give your birth certificate number.

Since you sent a copy of it, right, and the number matches the copy, then probablt not

US Citizen does not fill that out, that line has to do with naturalization certificate number, which native born US citizens do not have, you write Born in the USA.

My birth certificate has the wrong state for my dad's birth. I crossed it out on the BC and WROTE the correct state in by hand. Then I submitted a photocopy of that. You'd think that might cause an RFE but it didn't.
