Mumbai Embassy changed to Appointment Processing

hi,

I just noticed from the Mumbai DS-230 Processing Page website after a VJ friend asked me which docs to submit with DS-230.

I have just noticed that Mumbai embassy has changed from Standard processing to Appointment Processing. I would like other VJ friends to pay a visit to the site and confirm me the same. Seems Mumbai embassy wants more and more proof from us and want it to scrutinise them in USA NVC offices.

Regards

Jigi

I don't understand what this change means?

Does this only apply to Immigrant visas? It looks that way, correct me if am wrong.

Does appointment processing mean all the documents are processed at the NVC level instead of at the consulate level?

Jigi means NVC has requirements to process DS230 and its changing now for particular for India. Before, one had to send only photocopy of applicant's passport. But recently have included a list of documents that needs to sent example police clearance certificate, etc. (certified/notarized photocopies)

Hope this helps...otherwise consulate appointment process hasn't changed. You still get to go through VFS.

Good news folks!

I called up NVC today and asked them about required documents for DS-230 form.

NVC needs only photocopy of applicant's passport biographic. Rest of the documents would be collected as usual by Mumbai consulate.

Cheers

Thanks Jigi! I specifically asked the person at NVC about the website mentioning different set of supporting documents for DS-230. She replied that "consulate would be collecting them and you just have to send passport biographic page as supporting document". (Whole conversation was with respect to my case).

Like you said lets hope all works out OK! ;-)
