Abortion. That depends if she actually had the money to have it done. I don't think there is any free abortion shop in the US. If you don't have a job or are struggling to survive, $400 seems like an impossible amount to muster up in a short period of time. There are also time restraints. If she was in severe denial or didn't know period until it was too late for an elective abortion, then there that is.

However, I think we are asking her to act in a rational manner, when we know she gave birth to it god knows where with probably no help, put her kid in essentially a trash bag, and flung it into a dumpster. That doesn't scream 'capable of rational thought and decision' to me. I am not defending her, it is just messed up.

I know, you're right. I thought of that too... There are abortion funds, but I doubt she knew about them. If she had NY state Medicaid, she could have gotten the abortion for free, but $400 is pretty steep for a teenager.

Ok, I am pro-life and personally against abortion, but I do agree with your comments (you and Alex, I mean). If you don't want the baby and you don't want to give her up for adoption, then #######?! Just have an abortion you sick **.

Kazan, I know in Louisiana there are similar laws, dubbed the Dumpster Baby Laws, that "protect" women who drop their babies off. No consequences. What is really sad is that we live in a society in which laws like these are necessary.

Abortion is not the answer here. Kids are bombarded with sex sex sex on tv, in the magazines and now even in schools. Yet not one magazine or TV show actually teaches kids that their every action has consequences or what responsibility means.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Why is everyone looking for an 'answer'?

We live in a mostly free society where people are free to make decisions, good or bad. This is a bad decision. A symptom of our freedom. What answers are y'all looking for?

I was just thinking similarly. I think an abortion is far more humane than leaving an infant to die in a dumpster.

I mentoned this in the previous post and I don't know how far this procedure goes. But in my area, anyone can leave a baby at a police or fire station with no questions asked. Walk in, hand it over, and walk out.

Why don't these people have abortions, for crying out loud?? If you believe abortion is murder, you probably also believe leaving a baby in a dumpster is murder. So why not skip the pregnancy?

It's pretty universal, but not publicized, that leaving a baby at a church, hospital, or police station does not count as abandoning the child. Some places even have a baby box that looks rather like a money window at a bank but is a nice warm box; put the baby in, close the door, and there's another door on the inside so someone can get the baby. The mother never has to see anyone.

And unfortunately people in the US are taught all about freedom but not about the consequences of one's actions. For example, someone can choose to carelessly ###### around. As a consequence they have kids to multiple partners. Yet if they cannot take care of them because they have no job etc then it is up to society and the American tax payer to take care and literally pay for any abandoned children.

As someone said to me while I was in the UK, "Americas worst export is the misinterpretation of the first amendment. The amendment which clearly refers to freedom to express 'political' views rather than the convenient misinterpretation as being one allowing people to do as they please, regardless of the consequences.."

People should be allowed to do as they please as long as they don't infringe on anothers rights. Anything else is not freedom.

Of course, if all people were rational and educated of all their options, they would make better choices. But they're not and never will be. The gift of freedom to people, therefore, will always be pock marked by people like this making decisions like this (and worse).

At the same time if you look at countries which have a much much higher living standard than the US, they have the same freedom as the US. Yet they also draw the line somewhere and have measures to protect their society and the people who live in it. A civilized society needs to draw the line somewhere. Needs to define what is acceptable and what is not. The anything goes style of society is a failed concept.

sad and just wrong..i saw it on the news...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

This is rather common among teenagers. :(

They are afraid of the consequences of telling their parents, getting medical aid will by necessity get back to their parents (especially if minors) and they are in denial and avoiding the situation. What normally happens is the girl is torn up about it, comes to her senses, her friends know about it (she had to tell someone) and they go "find" the baby so that it has a chance at life.

The police know this and will probably be at their school asking questions the next few days. I do believe it is a misdemeanor to leave the baby in the dumpster. If she had dropped it off to someone the police would not get involved, but in this case I believe they will....

Of course I'm at work and I can't watch the video link, but this is what typically happens :(

يَايُّهَا الَّذِينَ ءامَنُوا اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَوةِ اِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّبِرِينَ

“O you who believe! seek assistance through patience and prayer; surely Allah is with the patient. (Al-Baqarah 2:153 )”
