Wow.. it looks like you're not having too much luck with the medical, I'm sorry!

I found one that seemed to know what they were doing, at least it sounded that way over the phone, and they will take me $ 150.00 for medical + shots + TB test.

We'll se if they have the right forms though!

Ah!... and i am telling you... good luck to find a civil surgeon who will make it with the new forms and for a decent price !!!! what a pain !

do we need to do the TB Skin test anyway extra ?

Wow! I found a guy here who'll do the transcription for $25. The admin asst who answered the phone was very knowledgable and they had a special immigration person who called me and told me what David still needed for FREE. I just sent them a fax of his vaccination records.

If you go back and read the directions in the directions section of the new I-693, explains clearly that you do NOT need a new medical exam for a K-1 visa holder. Therefore, you've already got your TB test done, no? That should be in your sealed packet that was given over at the POE.

i called like 6 doctors so far (with my so so english and their so so english).. and it's like, they don't just fill up the vaccination part blah blah blah, just the full medical, blah blah blah... between 150$ and 400$

what a gang of incompetent who are not even able to make their job right... i am so angry right now, you have no idea

That's crazy!!! Just keep calling. I called five people before I found the $25 people. I also sent a copy of the page with the explanation for K-1 visa holders from the directions and a copy of the new vaccination page to the doctor's office with my fax, so I was sure to have all my bases covered. Maybe you could try reading from that directions page to them??

You've got to bring the I-693 form with you when you go, so that should take care of it. :)

What? That's really weird... Because the new form says that you actually have to sign the I-693 in his presence...

I certainly do hope that they have the new forms. I would tend to agree with you; bring the new forms with you just in case.

These guys are mostly crooks. I just called about 6 of them, only one was maybe willing to transcribe the info onto the new form, the others all wanted to do some form of examination or some other bullcrap unnecessary thing to bill me for. But even the one who agreed, the receptionist told me that she'd have to make sure with the doctor when he comes in because she's not sure he'd do it without examining my wife (...and charging her accordingly I'm sure).

We were going to do this in the first place, but I'm sure now that we're just going to send in a DS-3025 and hope for the best. At worst, it'll be an RFE to get the new form.

Today I went for my medical. Since I entered the Country on a work visa, not a K-1, I needed the full medical. I brought with me all my vaccination records from my home Country, the new I-693 form and lots of patience :)

The doctors were actually very nice. They took my blood and did the TB test. They had the old forms still, but in the USCIC website it says they're still good for people having their medical in July, so we'll see...

No.. I know I'm a minority here but I entered the US 4 years ago on a work visa (L1) and then met my husband :)

Anyway the full medical cost me $ 150.00, which is already pretty expensive.. and then I had to pay another $ 104.00 for the MMR shot

Anyway.. it's all over now, I have my happy little sealed pouch to go along with the rest of the forms and soon enough I will be able to file for AOS!!

HAPPY!

What happens if you send in the DS-3025 and get RFE? Can you take a copy of the DS-3025 to the civil surgeon for them to transcribe the info and give the last vaccines if needed or do they need the official DS-32025?

The RFE would most likely say "missing I-693 vaccination supplement" or something to that effect. So you'd just need to have somebody transcribe the data onto the 693.

We're sending the forms this weekend and we're just including the DS-3025 and a note explaining that the vaccinations were completed as part of the k-1 visa process. My wife didn't have a TB shot, so we'll probably get an RFE for that, but we'll wait and see what happens.

Hi... So lost about this stupid I-693.

What is the supplement form I-693A?? Is it part of the I-693??

I had all the necessary shots done in France and everything is written on my DS3025... Do I still need to see a surgeon in the US and have the I-693 filled out?

I called several surgeons in the US, and spoke to only one! And she told me that just filling the form was $250 and that the Xrays and blood tests HIV/Siphylis had to be less than 60 days old, even if the rest of the examination was less then 1 year old... My Xrays and blood tests will be older than 60 days when I enter the US, does that mean that I will have to retake these tests???

:crying::blink:

Here are the new directions for K-1 visa holders and vaccinations.

Hi all!

The following link was INVALUABLE to me to figure out what the heck was going on with the I-693. It looks like we DO indeed have to submit the I-693, part 1 (Information about you) and part 2, #5 (vaccination section) completed for K-1 visa holders. Please read Section 3, Frequently Asked Questions, #2 for clarification.

These forms were revised on 06/05/08. New info. Directions to the new I-693 link below.

You do not need I-693A. It's an old form. The new I-693 replaces that. Read the directions link that I posted above.

I paid $25 for a Civil Surgeon to transcribe the vaccinations; that's it! :) I don't know what that one is talking about with you having to retake those tests. Sounds like a scam to me for cash!

Yes, I am pretty sure this doctor tried to make me pay the full price... I will call a bunch of them and hopefully find a cheap one in Alaska..

About TB and the TST test, I send a email to CDC and they told me that K1 don't need to take the TST test unless they have been in the US for more than one year. Has anyone heard about that??

I read what they say on I-693 form: "If you are applying for adjustment of status at least one year after your first admission to the United States as a refugee or as a "K" or "V" nonimmigrant visa holder, see Questions 1-3 in Section III, Frequently Asked Questions, before proceeding any further." And when you go see the questions in section 3, it is said:

"What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as:

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e), or as a

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen, and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then-

You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination.

a. You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination.

b. You will, however, be required to complete Part 1, Information about you, and submit the vaccination section of Part 2 with your adjustment of status application. A designated civil surgeon must complete the vaccination section and Part 5, the Civil Surgeon's Certification."

So, does that apply to any K1 or only the ones that are "applying for adjustment of status at least one year after your first admission to the United States"??

If it means that only the second have to have the parts 1, 2 and 5 filled out by a doctor, then the other K1, who arrived less than one year ago and who had a med examination before entering the US, don't have to even bother filling the form and just have to show a proof of vaccination like DS3025??

What do you think??
