So hubster dearest found out today that he has to go to California next week for work. He went looking online and found some great ticket prices so I can go with him! Yay!

We're flying in Monday, and leaving Thursday. So, what's a girl to do during the day in Salinas ???? (and possibly San Francisco while we are at it!). If anyone has some insights / restaurant reccommendations, that would be fantastic!!

Lol, nothing to do in Salinas at all. 1 hour drive from my house. SF is about 2 hours away. You can always go to Santa Cruz, Capitola, or Gilroy for outlet shopping. All about an hour away except Gilroy

damn skippy! i try to avoid salinas whenever i can...but there's always monterey, where i live and work. it's a great place, not too exciting, but pretty...

Oh and then there's Carmel with a great beach. Don't forget Point Lobos and Big Sur either...The seals are having their young right now, it's great to watch the pups playing in the surf.

You can reach all of these places using Monterey-Salinas Transit busses, even though their schedules ...ahem....suck.

Great restaurants in Carmel...try the Forge in the Forest, it's a really nice place to hang out and the prices are reasonable.

I don't know anything about Salinas but San Francisco has tons of things to do. You could go down to the pier or check out the marina area or the business district or go to Tiburon or ride the BART to Oakland. Go see where Jerry Garcia used to hang or ride over the Golden Gate Bridge just to say you've done it!

Go over the hill into the Monterrey area...really classy.

Of course, San francisco, and over the Golden Gate into Marin County and Sausulito.

Ride the cable cars in SF.

Wine country in the Napa valley is two hours off.

Not much going on in Salinas, unless you like to watch lettuce grow. Ever see East of Eden??? Steinbeck?

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Oh well, that was fun until it lasted. The price for my ticket shot up out of our price range in the last couple of hours, so no beaches for me. :( Oh well!

Are you checking more than one airport in Northen California? San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland?
