hello to everybody in this very informative site. thanks to all the members for all the insights that they have contributed to the forums. i've been reading through the different topics about the k1 process and i'm not sure if this question that i'm about to ask has been discussed before.

my question is: if the beneficiary has relatives living in the US, will this cause any problem during the application process? will this cause a red flag at the consulate? i'm asking this because somebody said this might cause a problem although it wasn't really discussed extensively. in the ds-156 form, question #37 asks if the applicant has relatives in the US. i'm wondering why would this be a problem? any input about this will be greatly appreciated.

In and of itself, having a relative in the US is not a problem. If that relative introduced the couple, things can get more complicated but again, in and of itself, not a reason for denial.

Have and show a bona fide relationship and this becomes a non-issue.
