Hello everyone,

I figured I'd post my question here since I already have the temporary Green Card and we will be removing the conditions in a year.

We are planning on going to Europe early next year. Our problem is that my Green Card lists my married name (husbands last name) and my passport lists my maiden name. I was planning on getting a new passport with my married name on it but this process could take months.

My question is if it would cause problems on the boarder to have two different names on the passport and green card? Will it be sufficient to bring our marriage license with us?

I would GREATLY appreciate it if you could let me know what you think.

(My husband had called ICE and they said that they don't think it would cause problems but I would love to know if you have any experience with this issue)

This is a common question.

No it will not be a problem traveling with married name green-card and maiden name passport, just carry a copy of marriage cert to show the name change.

Book any airline tickets using passport name, because most ticket agents tend to match tickets with passport.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Hi...

We have the same situation.

Green Card in wife's married name and passport in her maiden name.

Whenever we travel out of the county (and we have done so 5 times now) we bring along a certified copy of our marriage certificate.

We have had 10000000% NO PROBLEMS!

Don't worry .. don't fret!

Enjoy your trip!!!

Oh my gosh... thank you SO MUCH! You just made my day :D I didn't trust Immigration telling me that there wouldn't be problems because I wanted to hear it from real people. I REALLY REALLY appreciate it.

Thank you also for letting me know to book the flight in my maiden name. I was wondering about that too.
