Dad sells son's 90-dollar video game online for more than 9000

MONTREAL (AFP) - After catching his 15-year-old smoking pot, a father sold the hard-to-get "Guitar Hero III" video game he bought his son for 90 dollars for Christmas at an online auction, fetching 9,000 dollars.

The sale took place after the father spent two weeks searching for the video game for the Nintendo Wii gameboard.

"So I was so relieved in that I had finally got the Holy Grail of Christmas presents pretty much just in the nick of time. I couldn't wait to spread the jubilance to my son," the father wrote on the eBay website.

"Then, yesterday, I came home from work early and what do I find? My innocent little boy smoking pot in the back yard with two of his delinquent friends."

The man, a school teacher, who kept his identity private, said he sold the coveted video game to punish his son and discourage him from smoking dope.

The sale was a boon for the family's bank account, since the game the father purchased for 90 dollars (US) was finally sold to an Australian who plunked down 9,100 dollars for it.

The naughty son, however, will not go without a present on Christmas.

"I am still considering getting him a game for his Nintendo. Maybe something like Barbie as the Island Princess or Dancing with the Stars ... I know he will just love them," the father said, tongue-in-cheek.

I'm glad that guy isn't my dad. He's probably a drunk, anyway.

why? cos he's trying to teach his son a lesson about drug use?

Because there are far better ways to teach your kid a lesson. Talk to him and tell him that you considered returning the game, but decided that you would still give it to him and trust that he makes better judgement. We're talking about pot here. Not exactly a destroyer of worlds. I'm sure if the dad found him with a beer, he wouldn't have sold the game.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

But that's YOUR parenting style...regardless of what you feel about pot, this guy has a right to teach his son in the manner he sees fit. And 'ooh tell him you're returning it but give it to him anyways after faking him out' is IMO a way to ruin your credibility with kids.

Oh and saying the father is 'prolly a drunk' is just plain stupid too.

Of course he does, no one is taking his right away from him. People who hear the story have a right to an opinion about it too, though. If merely stating our thoughts on stories meant we were infringing on the rights of the people in the stories, well... message boards wouldn't exist :P

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I think the guy that bought the game for $9100 is the real idiot. One of these games just sold on ebay for $133.50.

No kidding. There are PS2 and Xbox360 versions that are easy to find at most stores. The buyer could have bought a top of the line plasma screen TV, a home theater system, an Xbox360, with change left over for that price. He must have money to burn.
