This time last year, I was getting ready to fly home to be with my mom, who was diagnosd with leukemia. Thanks to the doctors/treatments and God's grace, she is now cancer free. :dance:

Today, my dad went through a procedure where a tumour (very likely cancerous) was found where the small and large intestines meet. We are very confident that it's contained in this one area, and he'll be having an operation to remove it next Thursday.

I know that Dad has and will continue to have the best of care, but it's hard. It's times like this when I really struggle with the guilt of being here in the US and not being there to help them out. :(

09/26/06 - received at NVC

09/27/06 - forwarded to consulate

20/11/06 - visa in my pocket!

14/01/07 - POE

13/04/07 - marriage

27/04/07 docs sent in for AOS, EAD, AP

26/06/07 - biometrics appointment

02/17/07 - AP and EAD arrive

03/03/08 - Infopass - where the heck is my AOS interview?? No one knows!

3/24/11 Received 10 year Green Card in the mail - Done. Feels good :-) 'till we do this again for US Citizenship.

12/5/11 mailed packet for Naturalization

12/9/11 was received by USCIS.

4/6/12 received letter for fingerprint appn.

4/23/12 9am fingerprint appointment - done :-)

4/30/12 Recieved Letter for Interview - Sche. 5/31

5/31/12 Interview & Testing

5/31/12 Testing Approved - Waiting for next step

6/21/12 Rcvd email, placed application in the oath sched. que :-)

6/25/12 Rcvd letter - Oath Ceremony is on 7/11/12 @ 9:15am :-)

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

I-751 posted on 6th August 2009

Received on 7th August 2009 in VT

If you get as many kind thoughts, prayers, and well wishes as I received regarding my wife and her problems, then he recover soon.

My prayers are with you and your family.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Actually, he won't be -- he'll be having the surgery at South Shore Regional, which is a relief, since it's only a short drive from their house. Much better than the daily trips to Halifax while Mom was having treatment. :wacko:
