Delay in filing petition

This is frustrating. :help: I got married 11/19/07 in the PI. We had a problem with the childs birth certificate having some incorrect information on it. So my new wife took the papers to a lawyer friend who made the necessary changes.

We are now waiting for it to be processed thru the NSO office. Two weeks ago they said the new birth certificate would be ready on the 12'th of December. Now I found out today that they won't be ready for another two weeks. They could give is a temporary, but not a true certified copy. This is going into almost two months that could have been used towards the processing time of the petition. At this rate there is a chance I might not be able to even get her over here for two years with the way things are backed up. I feel so helpless in this situation. Could I use the temporary from the NSO as a copy to get things rolling. Once they are processed, it's going to take another five days to have them sent over by mail. Ughhhhh!

If you send the copy, the worst that could happen would be to get an RFE for the NSO issued birth certificate. Just be sure and have the original at your interview if it's not requested earlier. Also, anything you absolutely need in a hurry, FedEx has overnight service for $30. Good Luck and hopefully the process will start to speed up again as they get the newly hired people trained.

I can understand how you feel with NSO processing time.. You are not alone.. I too just recently got some typo on our marriage contract corrected. We went to Court Preceedings and just got our court order last month. We submitted it to NSO to get it corrected and they told us it will take 2 weeks..

Isn't this the truth. It seems like I have to constantly push her to get things done. It is very frustrating when your 7000 miles away. I didn't realize it was going to be this tough. I just have to let go and when it gets done it gets done.

:thumbs: Ohh.. I remember something about Filipino time..

If you have a date or appointment and they tell you they will meet you lets say 7pm.. In Filipino time that means you get ready @ 7pm or wake up @ 7pm.. You will get to there when your there..

The problem being is that I don't know if it is even the birth certificate. It might be just some processing proof that it is being processed and won't be ready for two weeks. I got of the phone with the USIC and they suggested that I wait for the certificate to be processed through the NSO and then send a copy off that.

They don't even have Fedex in Bacolod City. Nor do they have UPS. The only express that I have found is this Johnny Air. I don't know that much about them, but they do have something where she is located to have the papers shipped express mail.
