My fiancee recieved a letter via our lawyer from the Nebraska office saying our file was going to California and that a tracking receipt number has been generated

Is this the NOA - or is that something else again. Also the checks cleared - if thats important to the question

Thanks Glen

You case is being sent to CA for processing, it has gotten to the service center you sent it to, and is now being transferred to another location for processing. Good luck!

This is not an NOA.

Once CA gets it they will be sending you your NOA1 soon after.

Hang in there. :D

Your fiancee (who is the USC I'm guessing) or her lawyer will receive a document in the mail saying the petition has been received. They'll also cash the check at around that time. That's NOA1, although don't look for the actual "NOA1" wording on the letter.

I am guessing the tracking number is the one used to track the parcel with USPS (or other courier service) so you can see when it arrives at CSC :) When it arrives at CSC you will only find out from this tracking number - as soon as it does they will stick your file in a box somewhere and send out your NOA1 to say they have received your petition :) You should receive that in about two weeks - sometimes it is much less than that but other people have had to wait longer :(

Your NOA1 should look a little like this:

NOA2.jpg

Once you get it you just have to wait - you will get a number that starts WAC on it - you can use this to track the status of your petition here

On the right hand side you can see a link to case status online - you can either enter your WAC number each time or as most people do, create an account so you just need to login to check your status :)

Hope this helps!!

Just a quick note - I just did a quick image search on NOA1s so I don't think this is actually a K-1 image :) But it will look pretty similar :)

Oh - it's ok - it is - it's just an old one so the number doesn't begin WAC :)
