I grew up in Rochester, NY. When it came from the north, we got blasted, and when it came from the west, Buffalo got blasted. That's why they got 12 feet of snow and we hardly got any (which means we may have gotten under a foot...!). It might have been '77 that I'm thinking of. I can't remember exactly, but around that era. 12 feet of snow in 2 days is kind of unusual even for Buffalo.

LOL at highlighted bit.

I remember I was living in New Brunswick in '77 and we got the most snow I have ever seen in my life. Our house looked like this house in Tonawanda after that storm:

Wow, they did a really good job getting all the snow and ice off that car in the top photo. Too bad they won't be moving the car until springtime!

It was the winter of (Jan) '99 that Mel called in the Army. Total of around 7 feet of snow over 3 weeks and nowhere left to put it. I remember friends who lived in older neighbourhoods in Toronto (ie: narrow streets) who didn't see their cars til March! There was a pile of snow in some shopping mall parking lot out the west end that didn't melt til June! I had 6 foot snowbanks where I lived out in Markham, and they had less snow than in Toronto.

I miss snow. We never get any here.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

Ditto  My daughter sent this picture of outside their house yesterday (The Beaches area of Toronto). I was really excited about it until she told me they're expecting milder temperatures and rain this week, so it'll probably be just a big pile of slush when I get there. :( But we're going up to my friend's cottage on Georgian Bay, too, so they should still have some.

I lived near the Beaches for a couple of years. I was just up at Coxwell & Gerrard. Snow like that wreaks havoc on the street cars tracks. Still its pretty though.

I asked my Mum to send me some, but she said she's too tired from shovelling it all and she'd have to sell her house to pay for the refridgerated transport truck ;)
