Hi, my husband is a US citizen and is now back in US, has been since August to start a job. I am in UK. We started visa application in March. He is coming for a visit over Christmas and has a return ticket, he is a school teacher. I would like to hear from anyone else who has had their US spouse for a visit, what kind of questions are asked at the UK airport? I mean when he replies to, what is the purpose of your visit with, "to visit my wife", I am worried they might think he intends to stay and make it hard for him. Am I worrying unnecessarily? He is going back, he does have a job and is bringing with him his contract to prove this.

Thanks

Heathrow will probably detain him a bit but they're not unreasonable. Make sure he brings a copy of the NOA and application to show the intent is to immigrate to the US and not vice versa.

I have come thru heathrow 7 times in the last 9 months to see my fiance and never had a problem. the most they have ever asked is if we know the visa process, and what our intentions are etc. never been asked more than 2 mins of questions. I always carry my NOA and a copy of my current school contract (I am a teacher too) to show ties to the US. but I have never been asked to show anything except my return ticket. he will be fine! Have a great holiday!

Defo no problem - my OH had loads of problems getting through Heathrow for the longest time but since we started the visa process, he comes clutching his little NOA1 and they let him through no problem - he was really impressed!! You should be fine -especially with other evidence as well!! Hope you have an amazing Christmas!! (OH currently in air to spend Christmas with me  )
