Yeah, ok. First of all, If we don't RECEIVE receipt not re cei EVE.... ;)

2nd, Hey all! Sup?? :) THENNNNNNNNNN......

We sent Craig's packet about 2 months before expiration. (His 2 year card expires January 5, 2007) I have tried to look this up everywhere, but I can't seem to get an answer.

We got our delivery confirmation a few weeks ago, and NSC is showing as up to date with their receipts (I know they were behind with receipts for a while), so what if we don't have that receipt/year extention by the time his card expires?

I know from the USCIS site that they honor the filing as of the day they received it in the mailroom...and we have proof that they did get it by our delivery confirmation....but will this affect his job or anything like that?

We will, of course, make an Infopass if we MUST....but it's no small thing for us. We have an old vehicle, we are both working (as far as coordinating a day to go do it) and, most difficult, the nearest 2 offices to us are both 4 1/2 hours away...one way! We would prolly go to the Duluth, MN office, where Craig did bios once before.

Anyway......anything to worry about? I haven't really BEEN worried about it...but Craig has a bit...if I thought it was anything TO worry about I would have been...but now HE's getting ME a bit worried! (lotsa "worrieds" in there..make any sense???)

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Happy Holidays to all my old and new VJ friends! :) Michelle

As long as you filed in time (which you did) and your case is in the USCIS system (call the 1-800 number to confirm and get a receipt number), your permanent residency is automatically extended for a year while they adjudicate your case, so there's no need to worry about your status and ability to work.

However, you can't travel with an expired green card unless you have NOA1 or an I-551 stamp in your passport (through InfoPass). So if you think you'll travel it's definitely recommended to go in for an appointment.

I also recommend, just from my personal experience, to stay on them through phone calls (and maybe an inquiry from your congressperson) if you don't have NOA1 by the time your card expires. Things have a way of falling through the cracks unless you stay on top of them...

Good luck!
