This is really off topic... Car Stereo Install..

I know this is really off topic and there are many, many good forums and sites out there I could join and ask questions on but... After googling myself half to death checking all the big stores, Wal-Mart, Target, Autozone.. etc and the online variants. I can't seem to find a stereo install kit for Saturn 98. In fact the only thing I can find is kits for Saturn (all models) 91 - 94.

Maybe I'm missing something here but... does anyone know where I can get a kit for a 98 SL? Maybe I don't need one? Is there a way to find out? I got some new equipment I'd like to install as a Christmas present I don't want to be driven insane by the install on Christmas eve!!

Thanks!.. I've never done one before but am sure it'll be alright. Looks like all I need apart from the stereo is a mounting kit/face plate and a wiring harness. Apart from dismantling the old stereo it seems easy enough as long as I disconnect the negative from the battery

Hi.. as new immigrants we jobs.. to get jobs we need cars. With the cash from these jobs and from being in these cars so long to get to the jobs we sometimes need to upgrade our (or our wife's) audio experience!

You see.. it's all connected in a weird sort of way! it's still all very logical in that way isn't it?

no problem. crutchfield doesn't have the best prices but they have what you need. they are also a great research tool for buying things from other sites.

Well $30.00 is a small price to pay for ensuring that the new sound system will fit perfectly with the correct face plate. Being able to wire the harness at my desk and not at the dash is alone worth it!

I wanted to post an update to my original post. The new stereo arrived in time for Christmas and was quickly and easily installed thanks to LuckyStrike for sending me to that website I found the everything I needed! Thanks to everyone else for the advice it all in the end helped to make the install very easy and smooth! My wife is now very happy to be out of the stone age when it comes to car stereo's!

I've attached a picture of the new Stereo it isn't anything flame throwing and won't be winning any awards but it's all nicely installed and working and does alot more than just the radio . I didn't get a "before" shot.. but I'm sure a lot of people know what the stock Saturn SL (1998) Stereo looks like.
