I haven't had my interview as yet. My daughter graduates from grade 8 in June and I want to be here for that special occasion. As well, we have set a date for a church blessing for our marriage.

Can anyone give me an idea of what the timeline is like for receiving AP?

AP usually takes up to 90 days to receive. Some have gotten it sooner, but you are looking at a couple of months to get the document.

So I basically need to be in Chicago in March.....wonder if I can ask for an expeditited AP due to her graduating.

Hello Dear BH45,

I'm with you. I also am anxious about that next step because the "once in you can't get out " policy may keep me from going to my future sister-in-law's wedding in Mexico early April. She may change the date to later.

Time will tell.

Let's see it all working out smoothly and efficiently.

Gosh, I wish you could.

Expedited or emergency AP is usually for life or death circumstances only. You have to show a doctors note or something from a hospital showing that your family member back home is in a very grave situation and you must return to your home country ASAP.

They don't give them for weddings or graduations, unfortunately

I think it's so stupid that anyone even needs to get an AP to leave, but whatever, it's their rules.

It took approx. 3 mon for my AP to arrive It came shortly after my EAD
