ohhh come on charles, you wouldn't get the defected 50% off one?

I would, as a gift for someone, jk

Hail yes Id buy it. Id buy napalm if the dollar store sold it. I love that place. Christmas decor, toilet brushes, frozen pizza, and plastique all under one small roof! I could have a *blast* for under $5

don't forget the sanitary napkins

Ahhh yes, large puffy pink plastic packages of fat airplane stickers. I tell you what though, they need to make those wings a tad longer if the damn thing's ever gonna fly.

On the same aisle are the pregnancy tests. Now there's a purchasing delimma. "Do I buy it? If it works as good as the others, how come CVS charges 13.99 and this only a dollar? This is a communist plot. Im sure of it. Marketing trickery. Damn you advertisers of America! Im sticking it to the Man! Im buying my dollar store pregnancy test! In fact Ill buy 15!" You purchase an entire handbasket full of little purple boxes, causing the cashier to give you a slightly confused look, and run to the car, happy in the knowledge that you are doing your part to crush the evil advertising machine that jacks up the price on simple things. Then you drive down the street to CVS and buy a name-brand test just to be on the safe side.

depends on the job. very important ones get better quality bungees.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Yup! But I took the drugstore test first  The dollar store test confirmed it, so it must be true. Either that or this is most active watermelon ever smuggled.

I don't see why the $ store tests wouldn't work, yet I dunno why, but I wouldn't buy them!

Yas, you had me PMSL at your $ store preggo test rant....

See? It is the war we play out in our heads. There's no reason why it shouldnt be just as good as the same thing that costs 10x as much at any other store, but its too good to be true. Maybe its the stigma of the dollar store being a cheap place. Telling someone we bought condoms and lube there wouldnt be much of a recommendation coming from someone in my condition.

Does it have "not intended for recreational use" printed clearly on the label somewhere? Kinda like the carabiners that they sell at the Dollar store that state "not intended for climbing"..

You're a step ahead of me. As soon as I read the first post, it sounded to me like a key chain carabiner. The bungee cords at the dollar store aren't for jumping off the roof or anything like that. They are, like most other things at the dollar store, intended for something else. A carabiner is intended for climbing.... but not from the dollar store. That's for holding keys! The pregnancy test....... how about a science fair project?

(In a related story, I did use one to hold my rifle in place while in the military. "Not for load bearing use" was stamped right on the side but it held my 9 pound rifle pretty well. Would I trust it hold my 220 pound @$$ on the side of a cliff? NOT A CHANCE!!!)

I agree.

My favorite bit about dollar stores is how carefully crafted the packaging on things like shampoos and such are done, so that the colors and design are just like the name brand, except that they're not. It's startling to notice how much I recognize packaging on products I don't buy.

Sure...I'd try one out if it looked legit. Some of the stuff at the various 99 cent / dollar stores are #######, but there is some legit stuff too.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

I'm not sure about the $ store, but if you read the generics of many of that type of copycat packaging, you can see it'll say 'manufactured and distributed by' or you'll see 'distributed by'. If it's the latter, instead of the former, I heard that many times that'll mean it might very well be the same product made by the brand name ppl. At least that's what I heard in Publix's case. I might be wrong, but that's what I heard....
