One-Way Ticket for USC?

I am wanting to know if it is possible to buy a one-way ticket to the Philippines as a USC without being turned around by Philippine Immigration or something after arriving?

Basically, I have found a good deal on a 1-way ticket, and Arlyn and I want to fly back together, so plan to find some matching one-way tickets for us both from a travel agent in the Philippines.

I have been unsuccessful in finding any matching one-way flight for her to return with me on, in any round trip ticket I've searched for.

...and yes, money is an object.

I need to find the best deal/price I can. I care less about delays or times between airplace changes/stopovers.

I just want to be there with my asawa when she goes through the interview, and fly back home with her.

We need advice ... it's only two weeks away. :|

I'm completely new to air travel. Visiting Arlyn was only my second time flying.

What exactly is an open return ticket and how do I get one? Does it cost considerably more? I'm assuming it is a ticket without a return date?

The unfortunate thing is my time restrictions.

I cannot leave until the 27th of December, and I "must" be home by January 11-15 range for work.

Her interview is January 3.

I want to be ther,e and I need to be home on time, and want us to fly together coming home ... does it look possible?

Also, I checked out www.evaair.com, and their rates were 3 times the prices I got from NWA.

Can a US citizen fly one-way to the Philippines?

Yes Open ticket means you have a return ticket but no date, you still need go to the Airline or call em to reserve a flight..

Sometimes its the same price, sometimes its extra.. Its not the much, probably extra $50-$100..

Coming back to America is really the hardest part, cause all the tourist and balikbayans are returning to their work place or 2nd home.. Its really hard to get a flight.

Well to answer your question..

As far as I know YES!! You can buy 1 way ticket to the Philippines..

I think Philippine Immigration will allow it.

I went ahead and joined the Evergreen Club and checked their flights.

Their Hot E-Fares are a great price, and I read the reviews--looks complicated but still good quality.

The only problem is--all flights are sold out until late January.

:(

Ah well, I tried anyhow.

I'm still waiting for a concrete answer about the immigration thing.

Anyone know for absolute sure if a USC can buy a one-way to the Phils and purchase a one-way back while there ?

From what I understand, if you enter the Philippines with no visa, you will need a round ticket. If you don't, you will need to obtain a visa that is good up to 59 days, or a visa for 59 days-6 months. There are several Philippine counsulates here in the US that you can email and ask, and they will also process a visa for you if you like. I beleave it is very easy to obtain and not too expensive.

This sounds familar. I think you can go to a Filipino embassy and get a visa without too much trouble. I know when I went I kept having to go to the immigration office and get a 59 day extension because I didn't get a visa in advance so your initial one is only good for about 21 days.

I personally would not chance it. Here is why...

http://www.gov.ph/faqs/visa.asp

Guidelines on the Entry of Temporary Visitors to the Philippines

Nationals from countries listed below who are traveling to the Philippines for business and tourism purposes are allowed to enter the Philippines without visas for a stay not exceeding twenty-one (21) days, provided they hold valid tickets for their return journey to port of origin or next port of destination and their passports valid for a period of at least six (6) months beyond the contemplated period of stay. However, Immigration Officers at ports of entry may exercise their discretion to admit holders of passports valid for at least sixty (60) days beyond the intended period of stay.

My husband was with me on my interview too. He booked a flight from a travel agent. Round trip for him and of course a one way for me. It is risky to book a flight when u still don't have the visa but of course we take the risk. Round trip flights are a lot more cheaper than one way. Just have a time management for the whole trip. Good luck. :D

:help:

just take a risk..book a flight with open date on your return ticket . in my side..I didn't let my husband to booked my flight..who knows if I get visa or not
