One case does not foreshadow what the future may hold, but it is interesting that in his first case the new Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito went against against the court's conservative bloc by voting to maintain a stay of execution of a convicted killer who is arguing that lethat injection is 'cruel and unusual punishment'..

This article from the NY Times provides an interesting analysis of what some upcoming cases may show.

It definitely was interesting to see Justice Alito's first foray into Supreme Court jurisprudence. I was very wary of Alito's appointment, but it's nice to see an independent streak in him.
