 I've done that before. Just leave an covered pot of water on the stove long enough.

It's never too late to learn. I like watching the cooking shows...they give a lot of great tips. :)

I am a food network addict! It always inspires me too cook. I love that I get to cook so much here, I am having a great time. I love cooking the things I grew up on with my own added touches and I have learned many of the New Orleans Cajun/Creole dishes.

Back home I didn't cook very much- if I was living on my own I rarely cooked just for myself and when I was living at home I cooked a bit- but my family was never very adventurous so I was limited.

That's great, Stacey. :) Years ago, my mom gave me some of her back issues of Taste of Home, which is a collection of recipes from around the country that regular people send in.... family recipes that have stood the test of time. If you've never looked through the magazine, I highly recommend picking up a copy at your local grocer next time you go. Last Christmas, she got me their big cookbook and Jinky has tried several different recipes from it.

Lisa....you and I are peas in a pod. I'm well known for repeatedly burning hard boiled eggs! People at work bring me random boiled eggs because they feel sorry for me...or they're just rubbing it in! BUT..I too make killer meat loaf.

I used bread crumbs and a couple of tablespoons of wheat germ (sneaky healthy stuff), an egg, tomato soup, heinz 57 sauce, green peppers, grated carrots or zuchinni (this is how I sneak veggies and healthy stuff in for the kids..they love it!), minced garlic, a bit of mrs. dash (whatever variety makes you happy), and smother it all with ketchup, tomato soup, and heinz 57 to make pretty swirly colors on top. No one has complained yet.
