I have acrylic nails too. I keep mine pretty long- I've always had long nails so I am used to them.

I do have a nail question for you Lisa- Back in Canada, I was getting acrylic with a gel on top. They would air brush on the white and pink before the gel top coat. The gel they used was in a little tub, it was brushed on and then I went under the UV to set it. It was always rock hard when I left.

Here- they polish on the pink and white and the gel they use is in a nail polish bottle. I always found it would crack. Also- I find my nails take forever to dry- several hours. I stay under the UV table for a long time and bring my own Rapid Dry top coat. They started using a regular polish top coat instead of the gel, It doesn't crack but I do have to make sure I wear a few pairs of gloves when I take off my toe polish.

I tried finding the real gel I like at the Beauty Supplier I go to but they didn't have it. I can try to look in other places if I know someone carries it- the girl who does my nails here has no idea what I am talking about when I say "real gel"

Any idea or advice?

I was getting the gel nails to - in the nail polish bottle - I found them to be more expensive and not as long lasting as traditional acrylic. The polish always wore off in a few days. It p*ssed me off since they are significantly more expensive than regular acrylic. My salon insisted on the gel, so I switched to a new salon. I have reverted to traditional acrylic. They last longer, look better and are cheaper. So that's my solution to the gel dilemma!

Lisa - good for you on the cooking!!!! When you described your salad dinner party I also immediately thought of Bridget Jones Diary! Cooking is like anything, the more you practive, the better you'll get!

 They were big chunks of tastlessness. I didn't use any tomato sauce or paste in the meatloaf.

I keep thinking of Bridget Jones and her blue soup.

heh, yeah when I saw that, I thought 'seems like summat I would do'

LOL neither do I. How thick was it? Was it something just brushed on, or did they mix anything together to make the gel?

You would really benefit from pink and white acrylics....they are colored and formed to look like a french, but it's in the acrylic. So if it gets buffed good enough, one coat of top coat and you're good to go!

As far as polish drying, all the fast dry products I've ever used are garbage. Some will dry the tops prett quick, but always usually allow 1 hour per coat to fully dry.

Ok, I was just throwing things all willy nilly, but here you go:

beef

breadcrumbs

telicherry pepper

garlic powder

finely diced onions & scallions (not too much of each)

finely diced celery

Emeril's 'essence'

Worcester sauce

1 packet Knorr's dry leek soup mix

A bit of homemade Italian gravy (red sauce) <---keeps it from drying out

no salt, cos there's enough salt in the soup mix

It was yummmmmmmmmmm

I got the telicherry pepper at Sams club...I don't think it makes much difference than reg pepper, and there's tomato in the Italian sauce.

It is thick gel substance and it gets applied with a small brush- it sets under the UV in about 5 minutes. It doesn't discolor or stain at all (haircolour in the Salon never stained my nails with it on) and it never cracked. I have used the pink acrylic but I still need more coverage. My skin is really sensitive and my nails mark easy no matter how gentle you are.

The girl who does them now does a good job and they do look good. I can deal with it :)

Thanks!
