With my impending obsession and because I was trying to stave off another compulsion to refresh I thought I would create this poll and see if anyone is going as crazy as I am :D

I rarely use it. I am signed up to get automatic updates so I pay more attention to my e-mail inbox.

I received NOA2 in the mail without ever having received an email, even though I am signed up for email updates too. I think the error detection and processing in their email system is sorely lacking!

I'm at least 2-3 weeks from expecting anything to happen to my case (and probably more like 4-6 weeks if I were being ultra-realistic), so right now my answer would be, at most, once a day. But it's really more like every 2-3 days. And back when I received NOA1, I don't think I checked it for a full month. Once January starts rolling around I'll probably start checking at least daily, and probably more like 3-4 times a day. And although I am a card-carrying member of the "touches mean nothing" club, you can bet that if/when I see that first touch I'll switch into compulsive mode full speed ahead.

I can count the number of times I've checked it on one hand. Since getting NOA1 in early November, I signed up for email notification and checked it twice in the following days, but not since.

I doubt I'll start checking until several other September filers are appoved or after I'm back in mid january. In another 2 weeks, I'm going to go see my dear Kathy, during which time I'll be having too much fun to even think about NOA2. It's lucky if I even check my email every 2-3 days when I'm there, much less spending the time to check the USCIS website. ;)

I started off checking it once every week or so, then it gradually became once a day as the first July filers started seeing their approvals, then it became twice a day - morning and evening - until for a while I had it constantly open and refreshed it maybe once every hour or so

gave THAT up a few days before I actually saw my NOA2 as I was driving myself mental; went back to twice a day after that ;)

I consider it a significant step in my Visa Journey that I just this morning removed USCIS from my short-cut address list across the top of my browser :D

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

If you use Firefox, there's a handy plugin called ReloadEvery. You can get it here. The plugin lets you refresh a web page automatically every whatever seconds or minutes you decide. So if you really must refresh the status page every minute, this might save you from carpal tunnel. :) Use responsibly though please. While you can set it to check every 5 seconds, you probably shouldn't.

I had been checking it every few weeks for ages, but as mid-November saw the beginnings of VSC July filers approval, I started to check once a day. The day before I was approved, I checked in the morning and again before bed, and no touches. Next morning I got to work and nearly fainted when I saw "CRIS" in my inbox. This time,I knew it wasn't because I had changed my password!!!

Funnily, after I was approved I had to keep looking at it cos I couldn't believe it was actually real!

Got everything crossed for you Aly, so you get approved!

I abashedly report that I check mine approximately 8 to 10 times daily, at least on weekdays. I too am signed up for e-mail notification, but I trust the CSC as far as I can kick it. Of course, if they can't be trusted to e-mail, why should they be trusted to update Online Status? But at least it keeps me from continuously jamming my fingers up my nose to the fifth joint. :)

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
