Hi all,

So we just submitted our AOS package for my wife with the version of the passport she has now. At the same time she had to apply for a new passport from her country for her name change. It sounds like when she picks up her new passport she will have to give up her old passport. The problem is her I-94 and Visa are in that passport!! What should we do? Ask the consulate if they can punch a whole in the old one and let us keep it? Just Tear out the papers we need? Make a copy? I assume we may need the I-94 and or visa in the old passport later?

Thanks

Make photo copies of all pages in old passport, and remove the I-94 card from it and keep it in a safe place. Most countries return the old passport to you along with new one, they will cut a corner off the old one to invalidate it.

When I changed my name in my US passport, they sent back the old one with a hole punched through the one page. I've always just assumed they do that for all passports.

We are about to send away to NY for a new Jamaican passport for Andre. I guess we'll soon find out.
