What happens when an innocent man is executed?

There have been people on the death row that DNA evidence proved to be innocent.

How does bullet in the head theory deal with that? Shrug of shoulders and an "Oh well, lose some to win some" ?

Naturalized! Yeah!

I'm with MAWILSON here. I've always felt death is too good. Work their damn rear off. Suffer as much as the family you left fatherless, motherless or childless. Connect the hamster wheel to their house so they can have free energy.

You kill them and they're dead, but if they're alive, you can put them in a giant hamster wheel to generate energy? Dunno.

but the focker still has to be fed, guarded, etc. a bullet is way cheaper. have the state pay the family 50k and the taxpayer saves money versus keeping that scum alive for 30-50 years.

Feeding and guarding the person actually ISN'T cheaper because the state has to pay for the endless legal process that finally leads to execution. It's much, much more expensive.

Except, it's not cheaper and executions are no longer done by firing squad.

Some people just don't want to evolve...

Of course, one could do away with all this judicial process nonsense. Just kill a few people who look guilty to assuage some feeling of vengeance that executions clearly give to some people. Of course, I am too weak to enjoy vengeance so I don't understand.

limit the appeals. why should someone get endless numbers of appeals?

this ain't rocket science alex. some people just don't need to be counted among the living. act like a rabid dog, they should be put down like one.

without paying the ultimate price for their crime, what exactly is the deterrent here? a lifetime of food, shelter, and medical care? oh please

Sadly charles acting 'like a rabid dog' is rather more complex than you seem to appreciate. Of course, several hundred years of due legal process could just be some huge conspiracy by the legal profession and law would be better served by say, you acting as head judge and executioner?

While I see the logic, I still want that scum to suffer. Mimimal survival gruel, not three nutritious meals. There are ways to make prisons profitable. Turn them into sweat shops.

 Charles in that role is the worst-case scenario.

I guess the fact that it has been proved over and over again that the death penalty isn't a deterrent doesn't sit well with you either?

I find it somewhat odd that there are people who seem to believe that most of us are obeying the law because of the 'consequences' of not doing so. The truth is, most people obey the law because the majority of laws don't play any part in the way most people conduct their lives. We aren't constantly wrestling with our conscience, shall I steal today? Shall I commit murder tomorrow?

I don't have time to think about that stuff... I have to go kill a bunch of people in New Jersey to celebrate.
