WIC or Federal Aid Elegibilty

Our neighbor (up here illegally) has been telling my wife that we need to apply for WIC since the birth of our new baby. Now, from what I understood out of all of the Affidavid´s of Support (I-134 and I-864 (or was that I-846) We aren´t eligible. IF we apply and are approved we have to Pay it back and she stands a chance of getting deported.

Or, are we eligible if we meet the income recuirements? (I don´t think we even meet those though) Does anyone know if we can do that? Is it risky

WIC is not considered a means-tested public benefit for purposes of the I-864. Neither are the Head Start or school lunch programs, when those times come.

Congrats on your baby, and take advantage of WIC without fear. It's an excellent program.

Abby is correct you can get WIC and Headstart without any problems. The program is wonderful and I would have your wife go and apply. These programs are allowed and congratulations on your bundle of joy.

Head Start is a government preschool program for lower income families. It allows the kids to attend school with little or no fees so that they can advance just like children from homes that can afford their children in private daycare or learning based programs. Kids are 4 or 5 yrs old in my state when they are allowed to sign up for this program. Good luck.
