hello all!

I live in Puerto Rico and met a few moths ago my actual girlfriend, who lives in italy. we are in love and we decided to live together and i want to bring her live with me using the k-1 visa. i´ve read about all the things i have to do but i still don´t know if i have by law to support her when she comes here, for how long i should do it and under waht conditions. I need you to help me to clear all this out.

You will need to support her from becoming a 'public charge' that means if she goes through public assistance programs you will be liable for the payments. In reality you need to meet 125% of poverty guidelines for your 'new' household size. Here's the link http://aspe.os.dhhs.gov/poverty/06poverty.shtml

You need to make $13,200 times 125% for two people (if thats just you two - no kids) or $16,500 per year. Good Luck

You can get a co-sponsor (like your father) if you don't meet the minimum required, but keep in mind the co-sponsor must make the minimum requirement to support all his dependants PLUS your fiancee.

yes, i meet the requirements to bring her here, but i have still doubts concerning the support...i think i have to sign a paper to be responsable for her support but, for how long? and if we get married and we divorce ( which i don´t want!!! ), do i still have to support her ?

i want to know all this because i want to do things right and know exactly what i´m doing and all the inconviniences we are facing

The answer to this is right on the form.. Read #6 on the form.
