It does seem that a lot of guys 50 and older want younger chicks. My mother (a young 61) has given up the search for a mate because, in her estimation, "All guys my age want young chicks in their 40s. ** 'em," or some such.

Speaking of erections, is anyone else of the opinion that the erection drug (lets call them what they are, ay?) ads are outta control? Does a guy on cialis really need to fill the swimming pool with hundreds of floating tea lights to entice the old lady to put out? Or sit in side-by-side clawfoot bathtubs in a field of daisies? Good grief!

Looks fade, but personality is forever.

Personally I always tried to aim 5 years older or 5 years younger if at all possible-10 year age range.

Most women around 25 or younger seem fickle, all over the place, and usually have no clue what they want, but if they like you and are are good in the sack, then it is hard to say no. Just don't think long term with this age range IMO.

As far as looks go, I think picking someone that is fairly close to your level of attractiveness is best, but far more important is you have to genuinely enjoy each others company and respect one another.

Usually the old nasty guys with younger, hot women are rich/powerful. In that situation it's the woman's choice to trade her bod for material goods, a certain lifestyle, and perhaps inheriting the guy's money if he is really old and she marries him.

I personally feel I can ask no more of my fiancée then I ask of myself. So, if I stay in shape and try to look my best for her, she should too.

As others have said, looks may fade... However, they don't have to. Physical attraction does not die because you've been a couple for ions or a personality makes up for it. If you both make an effort to care for your appearance you'll always look wonderful to each other.

I'm just shaking my head at both these comments. "Someone fairly close to your level of attractiveness" - and since that is subjective, whose criteria are you basing that on?

As for looking your best for her so expecting her to reciprocate - well, that is subjective too, maybe her idea (and I don't mean your SO in particular) of 'staying in shape' is 10 jumping jacks a day and a twinkie. What if at the beginning of a relationship you both go to the gym every day together but when she turns 55 she decides it's not as much fun as it used to be and gains 30 lbs, is that a deal breaker?
