Hello,

Sorry, I know there are a lot of topics like this one on that website, but after browsing through it for half an hour, I figured it would be more efficient to just ask you my questions, since you people here are so nice and answer other people's questions.

I am the foreign one in the couple. My SO filled out his part of the I-129F and now that's my turn. But...

1) Part B, Q 1: Middle name. In France we don't have a middle name but two other names (such as: First name, 1st other name, 2nd other name, last name) Should I put these two names as 'middle name'? Or should I just leave it blank and not write down my two other names?

2) Part B, Q 2: About my address. I have just started working and I have my own apartment but half of my mail still goes to my parents' house. The address on my passport is their address too. Should I put the address of my apartment or theirs? I figured that maybe it would be simpler, for example if I ended moving out or going back to their house, that would mean I am sure I will get all my mail at theirs. What do you think?

3) About the blanks, I've read on different topics that we should put N/A or None (depending on the question) which is something my boyfriend hasn't done. Do we have to put N/A also in the questions where it says "If yes:" and that in our case that was "no"? or on question 16 (if not Roman letters) that doesn't apply to us, should we put N/A on all the boxes: name, number and street, town, etc. ?

Thank you all!

And now I'm filling the G325a form, and they are asking for my last 5 addresses. So I guess my idea of writing my parents' one wasn't good, since they are going to see in the G325a that I have a different one.

Another question though:

4) In that G325a, should I write all my addresses even including the ones where I lived as a student? I mean that's still the same, I was still linked to my parents' address too.

Hi Cecile,

1. Yes, put your two other names as your middle name. Fred explained to me that middle names are pretty useless in France, but we listed his anyway.

2. You should probably put your address now as your address. You can always change it later, and like you found out on the G-325a, you have to list your previous addresses.

3. I think we put N/A in those sorts of blanks, and if there was a question that had a yes or no box and it didn't apply either way, we left it blank.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

Thank you a lot Kim :)

edit: but my two middle names don't fit in that small box :( Am I going to have to use an extra sheet only for my middle names?!

You could try to hand write them neatly in the box if you don't want to attach a separate sheet. We had to hand write the town that Fred is from over and over because it was too long to type in the box. Sometimes I had to put the first part of it above the last part, but everything went fine.

Thank you for your advice.

Now I have another question, about the G325a form: I was a student until last June, but I also did a few internships. Should I include them in the employment question? If so, that would be (summarized of course):

1- my current work

2- internship

3- none (student)

4- internship

5- none (student)

Or should I just write:

1- my current job

2- none (student)

Fred didn't list his internships because they were older than 5 years, but in your case, if they were recent enough, you should list them.

Thank you kimandfred and SHELLYandFCO. Now the forms are filled up (well, at least on my side ; my us fiance still has to finish his G-325A)

I was gathering our 'proofs' and I got an idea, but I am almost sure that won't work.. let's see what you think of it.

When he was in France with me last month, we went to visit my parents who live 400 kilometers (that would be around 250 miles). We went there by train. The only photo I have of him with my family is just him playing video games with my brother. We didn't think of taking a picture with the entire family.

But I have our train tickets. I was thinking that they might prove we went there together (no names on it though) and that therefore, it could be a good thing to send to USCIS. But they are in French. What is written does not really matter as long as the dates and locations can be read, but I'm pretty sure USCIS won't accept it without a certified translation.

Am I right?

What about your fiance's boarding passes from his flights to France? Those would have his name on them and (I assume) would be in English. I really don't know anything about translations and what they would/would not accept, but if your names are not on the plane tickets, they may not be sufficient evidence anyway, at least not on their own.

All you need to prove is that you were in the same city at the same time at least once in the past 24 months.

If you do not have his plane tickets still, I have seen others here discussing whether/how you can get something from the airline showing that he travelled on those dates. I have no idea how that would work, but someone here might, or he could call the airline and find out.

Well yes, we do have his plane tickets. And mine from when I went to the US too. They will be evidences, of course.

The train tickets and visit to my parents were just something more to add. It's always good to have more evidences.

Okay, I better clarify that. That was just about the evidence of having met that you were asking about. With the I-129F you also have to prove that your fiance is a US citizen and you are both legally free and able to marry each other, and then there is more later on (bona fide relationship, financial stuff, etc). But the evidence you were asking about really only needs to show one meeting in the last 24 months.

Oh in that case I would include them. Maybe you can put them with the plane tickets and itinerary from his flight for the same trip. Without the names it isn't proof positive of having met, but you prove that with the boarding passes and I think it shows that you did stuff together and that he went to meet your parents.

I still don't know what to tell you about needing a translation. Does it give the dates numerically or with the month written out? If it just gives it numerically (like 18-12-2007 for today), they really should be able to figure it out.

It's like:

Départ 26/10 à 12h00 de PARIS

(which means: Departure November 26th at 12am from Paris)

There are other information around, but we can probably highlight the important lines.

And we can still write our own translation under it. Won't be certified but...

I think that's easy enough for a monolingual American to understand, at least I could understand it. I also think your idea of translating it for them yourself and highlighting the important info (names of cities and dates) is good. That will make it easier for them to find what they are looking for.
