I didn't pick a pediatrician before the baby was born. I decided to go with the on call pediatrician that the hospital would have and see if we liked them.

I had a c-section and the pediatrician didn't have to be there. He didn't come til the next morning to see the baby. We liked him so we have been going to his office.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Hi ladies,

I went to get my second ultrasound today. They were checking for down syndrome and other birth defects. I saw the baby moving and wow was it moving! it moved so much, it was hard for the doctor to get measurements. I thought I felt the baby move alittle last night but thought maybe its just my imagination...

As for a pediatrician, my doctor gave me a few recommendations that were also compatible with my plan and near my house. I was wondering how to go about choosing, do I make an appointment to see the doctor before the baby is born, what do I ask? at what point in the pregnancy do I choose?

aaww it is so cute to see the baby moving!!!

what i did was called the office..told them how far along i was and would like to meet with the dr and see the office...the pediatrician i picked sees the mom's about a month before they are due....they went over everything with me when they will be at the hospital to tell the hospital who the pediatrician is, how they deal with vacinations when there office hours are, when they have late days, when they are open on weekends, what other practice covers for them, there is someone always on call and to call anytime if i have a problem or concern...i really liked this group because they were very easy to talk to, the nurses and dr.s were very nice and a lot of people in my area go to this dr and i have heard nothing but good things!! I would say to pick a dr is really a gut thing and what you feel comfortable with!

I haven't started to look around for a Pediatrician either. Where I'm still considered high risk here in Canada I'm not sure if I'm going to give birth here (Nova Scotia) or in the States. My husband would like the States but I'm having trouble finding and OBGyn with his insurance which will take me late pregnancy. So I'm still up in the air.

Married August 21 2004 in Nova Scotia!

October 19/04 sent I-130.

April 17/08 finally arrive back in New Orleans after 3 years and 8 months.

May 19/08 Perm Resident Card arrives.

July 24/08 Reapply for a new SS card with married name.

August 4/08 Baby daughter born.

definitly have a pediatrician picked out before u have the baby, waitin for whoever is on staff can mean that doctor may not accept ur insurance, then u will get stuck paying out of pocket just for him/her to give the baby a clean bill of health.....just go to ur insurance providers website...find a list of peds and call around to see if they work out of the hospital u will be at...all the doc will be doing is checking over the baby, than if u dont like him/her u can always make sure thats the last time u see them....

saw the doc today....nothing. no change, nada....still closed...Mr zaid is quite cozy apparently....the braxton hicks i was feeling the other night were much much stronger than any before, so i know d day has to be approaching....saturday is my last day at work....and hopefully baby comes right around then, the sooner i have disability checks coming, the better....i would hate to use ALL my vacation pay.......

Thanks ladies for the advice on the doctors. I will ask my OBY next week at my appointment. Any doctor that goes to my hospital is covered under my insurance. Why is that? Its an OSF hospital and I have OSF insurance. So all must take OSF insurance. I have my cousins I could call or a teacher gave me his daughters docs. My mom said also if you don't have one they will give you one at the hospital. Maybe I should call. I am so tired that I can't even stay awake any more. Only 9 more days of work. Thank goodness. The going to the bathroom thing is a pain and I have to sprint to the bathroom.

Shauna I hope everything works out for you Thursday :star:

@nannygirl: wow just one more week! U mustbe so exited!!

My doctor doesn't check me at all for dilation until my due date. I do get another ultrasound at 38 weeks for another weight estimate though. so far it looks like the baby hasn't dropped but I'm feeling really good these days and I stopped gaining weight. hooray!

I just can't believe this topic was on the 4th page....

BABY DREW IS HERE!!!!!

My son was born on April 5th @ 10:15a. He decided not to make us wait any longer, which his daddy was VERY happy about :D

He was 6 pounds 5 ounces and 19 1/2 inches long. And the only way to describe my child is "perfection". I could not have dreamed of a more beautiful and perfect little boy. And I could not have anticipated the way I have fallen in love with him. It is consuming.
