okay ladies, i have a question but i don't know if its caused by my pregnancy. last night i went to bed feeling wonderful and i woke up at 5am and i couldn't move. i was having serve back spasms, but not in my lower back they were in my upper back between my shoulder area. i tried everything, a massager, a hand massage, pillows, a warm bath and nothing worked. i finally passed out sometime between 7-8am after i shoved pillows all around me. i don't know if it was from the pain going away or from being so tired that i just passed out. i woke up a couple hours later and the pain was still there but not as harsh. i really need some advice for how to deal with this if it should happen again. ANY tips would be greatly appreciated! have a good day.

Is it like leg cramps or so? I can't imagine having spasms in my back like that. I guess you could talk to your doctor or OB and see if it might be caused by a lack of magnesium. Usually that is supposed to help with muscle cramping. I hope you feel better soon.

EXACTLY that was it. We felt ready PLUS we always wanted two kids real close together and with Eric being out of the military but still having benefits and insurance we decided to just go for it and see how long it takes. About one week later I was pregnant, haha.

good news...u/s came back fine...her weight is....drumroll please....8.6 pounds...aaahhh.....

Anna: As long as the docs are not concerned with your weight gain and baby measures right for it's gestational age, I wouldn't be worried about it. Just eat as it feels right to you (you know, all organic and skim milk  , no hotdogs or anything else you like, haha) and you should be fine. I never had problems gaining weight in my pregnancies but my friend gained a total of 9lbs and had a 7lbs baby (that was the girl who delivered within 30 minutes and was back to a size 2...argh...).

I just feel it's not right, but I'm sure under my mom's care starting next week I'll start to gain hehehe (of course all EU-organic, lol). I don't care too much about fitting in my size 2 again, but i take the 30 minute labor! Where can I order it? :P

Wow for the cloth diapers, I think it would freak me out, I'm too lazy! My mom always tells me the stories how they had no choice and had to use cloth diapers - they brought the washer to the vacation home at the Baltic Sea to clean the diapers!!!

I feel a constant pain in my belly, like soreness after doing too many sit-ups. Does that ever go away??? I think he/she is still on his/her head, I constantly have to run to the bathroom (every 2 hours)...

Good luck to all of you guys!

2 hours your doing good it just gets worse. I can only wait 1/2 hour now. About belly pain I don't have to much of that. It was chest pain for me. She was riding up high I think. It gets better when the baby moves downwards but then you have to go to the bathroom more.

I think its great that she is healthy. I wish I knew my little ones weight I want to buy clothes. I bought a few NB outfits but what if I need to get 3 month outfits if she is bigger. I will have to be patient.

I wouldn't give too much hopes into the weight estimate. I've heard of women having to have a c/s cause their babies were measured well over 10lbs and then were like 7lbs babies. They estimated Adam to be a good 8lbs 8oz (by hand not US) and he was 8lbs 14oz so they weren't too wrong about that. I think having an 8lbs baby is still average I hope my babygirl won't be any bigger than 9lbs. Good luck.

@KS: Sounds like your body is 'cleaning up' for what's coming next. Good luck to you as well.

When I was pregnant, we were to told to be having a fairly tall baby. We had no real reason to doubt this for obvious reasons involving looking in the mirror at ourselves. So we never really bothered to buy newborn clothes. All of our clothes started at 1-2 months. Well, lo and behold, she came out absolutely normal size, 50cm. We had nothing that she was not swimming in. It annoyed my MIL so much that she went out and bought all new size 50 clothes for her. :P

Exactly. I think that is why they call it a 'guesstimate'.

hiya girls! I am back with a not preggy girl question!

Husband and I are doing insurance shopping and we are considering adding maternity insurance to our plan.

Number one: our company doesn't have that option....

other companies do but it will cost about $200 plus dollars more a month.

One agent we talked to told us to look at it like this. If you can afford the $8,000 to $10,000 average cost to "have" a baby then you don't really need maternity insurance. Also if there are any complications, under NC law you and the baby have to get covered. Also as soon as the Dr releases the baby you can have she/he added.

He said to add it up like this: if you add $200 dollars more a month for maternity that is $2400 a year that you are spending even before you are preg. Then if you have a $5,000 deductible, that is another $5000 you have to pay before you really get coverage.

So to me it seems that you don't really "need" maternity if you can afford to pay without unforseable (sp) complications.

So I guess my question is how many of you have maternity insurance....and am I veiwing this correctly??

If it doesn't mak sense I am sorry...insurance sucks!!

Hope all is well guys!

I don't really understand it since I never had to worry about finding a maternity plan. My question would be. Are your prenatals covered? There's a lot of blood drawing and testing involved (of course you don't HAVE to do all tests) and that is expensive. I went in for an US and that alone was 200 bucks, blood drawing was about 400 Dollars. You go for checkups every 6 weeks, then 4weeks, then 2 and then you'll be seen every week. Depending if it is a low risk pregnancy or not there might be more US etc. involved. I wouldn't want to be without ANY insurance since there's a lot of things that could happen but then again yuo might have a easy pregnancy.

From what I know, if you find a midwife and consider a homebirth the entire pregnancy is gonna cost you about 2500 Dollars in total. Midwifes are cheapest.
