Eveline Congrats on the little girl. Thanks for sharing the ultra pic.

I will let you ladies see the room when I get it done. I thought I could get it done in one day but of course I am not as fast as I use to be. I need more decorations too. I have to order some more items online. It is getting there but one problem mom bought us a used crib and we can't figure out how to put it together. She said it would be easy and she doesn't want to come over and help. I guess we will get our friends and maybe 3 minds will be better than 2.

Eveline - Congrats on a successful ultrasound experience :) The pic is great!

New Orleans Bound - Sorry you didn't get to learn the sex of the baby and that you had a scary experience. Hope that the next ultrasound is a better experience.

For those with back pain - I went to a chiropractor today (my doctor had okayed it). I feel a bit better, but still hurting some. I go back on Friday, so here's hoping this does the trick.

Thanks, Sarah! Yours is a cutie too!!!! :innocent:

Stina, Mason did really well with shots. He cried a little bit but then calmed down. No fever, no swelling. We have a very good doctor too so it probably played a part.

Good luck with your check-up!!!!

Congrats Eveline, that must be so exciting to finally know

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I believe we are going to get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. (L)

My sister is going with me since my fiance isn't here but I wonder if the doctor would let me call him during that time and if its loud enough for him to hear over the phone?

I have an u/s scheduled for April 7 but I'm guessing that its too soon to tell the sex yet.... I'm so antsy..

The US you have scheduled for April is just to make sure that there really is a baby and that they can determine the due date for sure. It is too early to determine the sex.

From my experience the doppler is usually loud so I think your SO will be able to hear it on the phone as long as everybody is quiet.

I already had an u/s done on my first visit to verify the due date and make sure the baby is there and everythign was okay, that was on March 5. I was wondering why they scheduled another one so soon.

I had an ultrasound at around 12 weeks to examine the nuchal tube ... by looking at the measurements as well as bloodwork results, they were able to determine my risk of having a baby with Down's Syndrome and other defects .... for my age, the risk of Down's was I think 1:300, after the test they were able to say the risk was 1:1800. Don't know if this is what you are having. This was explained to me by my doctor though and it was my choice to have this. I would think the doc would have explained it to you if this was the U/S you are scheduled for.

The first time I went for my visit I was seen by an RN. She said that is how it is done in that office. The first time, the patient is always seen by the nurse, they did all the bloodwork, got all my information etc. So this will be my first time meeting the doctor I chose. They didn't schedule the u/s on the same day so I have to go back in April. She didn't mention anything about checking for birth defects but I will ask my doctor when I go tomorrow. I'm 24 so I don't think I am at risk but you never know.

I had one at 7 weeks and 20 weeks. I am only getting another one at 37 weeks cause I am high risk.

The tests they do are mostly not mandatory. You can refuse to give your blood for some tests. I have nothing against them testing my blood group AGAIN or checking for HIV AGAIN. That is fine with me. I declined the Alpha Fetoprotein Test just three weeks ago since the outcome wouldn't have changed anything on my pregnancy. We don't know our chance of down syndrome (I'm 26, no downs in the family but I don't think that even matters) but we know that there is no cleft lip/palate or spina bifida since we just had the US done. I don't know if I can refuse the GBS Test later on. I would like to and just have the baby monitored but I believe that they just put up the antibiotics as soon as I show up at the hospital. I'm terrified of being strapped to a bed again. I hope to labor at home as long as I can and then go to the hospital last minute.

I could not get out of the GBS Test. I have mine next week. I told the nurse I did not need it because I want a C-section but she is worried what if I go into labor before the C-section. I just don't want a vaginal delivery with the such high stakes on the babies health. Hopefully I will see doc next week and let him know my decision.

Kavi's Dr appointment went fine. He is doing good with weight/length. He is now 10lbs 7 oz, 22 1/4 inches long. (was 6 lbs 2 oz at birth). I can't believe some babies are born at this weight or bigger. Even though he might sound small, the Dr said he is in the average on both weight and length so that's good. He cried hard during his shots, but calmed down within a coulpe minutes and has been doing really good ever since. He is getting infant tylenol every 4 hours. My only complaint is that we were at the Dr's office for an hour and a half. It was about an hour of waiting til we finally saw the Dr! Then after that another 10mins waiting for the nurse who gave the shots.

Hope you are all well!!
