Oh no, I'm glad I never had dreams like that and I still don't have them. Don't worry. Most births are normal. I think if you can get around an induction and have labor start on its own, you can be pretty sure to have a vaginal delivery. Unfortunately too many doctors like to pressure moms into thinking that if the baby doesn't come until 2 days after the due date it's going to die or whatever. There must be a reason that 'term' is anywhere from 38 - 42 weeks, right? Also, if you do get induced, you don't have to show up. I should have done that and just stayed at home for another week or so. Well, now I know, I wish I had known back then.

My doctor seems pretty laid back about the baby coming on time. He scheduled me for a prenatal visit a week after my due date and explained that first babies are often late. I really do like my doctor and am so glad we seem to be on the same wavelength.

i really don't know the reason behind why the dr.'s like to do that c-section if you are a couple of days late....i was watching discovery health and they said that the when the baby is "done" it will release a hormone from it's lungs that will start the contrations...so i think if the baby is ready the baby isn't ready...oh well what do i know?

No, they don't do a c/s when you are 3 days late but they like to induce and induction is usually the start of too hard labor, then epidural...stalling of labor and failure to progress which then means C-section. I remember just being done with that pregnancy and I wanted Adam to come rather today than tomorrow. Now I wish I had waited a little longer and not given in to the induction.

I don't think it's that common just for being a couple days late. More like a week to 2 weeks overdue.*Oops I meant to induce, you wrote c-section.* Unless they feel there is a medical reason. And c-sections happen after starting labor naturally too, like mine. It's really a guessing game when it comes to giving birth! My reason was that I did not get past 7 cm dilation after being there for over 5 hours, even after getting pitocin to try to make things go past 7. When I got to the hospital at 10:30am or so I was 7 cm, after being sent home 2 times the day before for not progressing. My c-section was at 7:01pm. So I don't think in my case that it was a hasty decision. Also to take into account was that my water had already broken and there was meconium found when they checked me at 7cm.

I think every pregnant woman should really consider the possibilty that a c-section may happen no matter what they try to do to prevent it, and to look up info on healing from it like we look at healing up after a vaginal birth.

Eveline, didn't you say you were induced bc of high bp? Sorry if I have it mixed up. Or do you think that's just an excuse they gave you to induce?

I hope all you preggy women have smooth labors!!:)

Yes, I got induced for gestational hypertension BUT that day I had just gotten to the office, I was 41 weeks pregnant and gained 50lbs. My blood pressure up to that day was always normal, I didn't have swellings or any other signs of possible preeclampsia etc. I think it was a hasty decision and I totally gave in. I wish I had said that I wanted to wait a little but at that moment it seemed like the right decision and you all know that at that point of pregnancy you just want that baby out of you, right? When they checked me that day, I was 1cm dilated and 25% effaced. Basically my body wasn't ready for birth at all. I wonder now what would have happened if they let me go for another three days or so.

YEAH Moody....another MENA baby!!!! Congratulations!

Carshel love the pics. Where did you get your 3d pics done. Are they expensive? We were thinking about go some place to get them done.

We went to a place called Babies First Images http://www.bfiatlappts.com/. We had them done twice (17wks & 28 wks) which came with a CD full of pictures and we got the DVD of the entire session. The first time I think was around $195+/- and all repeats are just $99.

Thanks I will check it out.

wow thanks for the pics everyone! Seeing all the cute babies is getting me all exited now!!!

@Belwin Mills: I don't "waddle" but I'm at home all day and get a lot of rest. Don't know how you do it at this stage being up on your feet all day!! I bet you can't wait for spring break!

Do any of you guys have nightmares since being pregnant? I think I read about that somewhere. I'm having crazy dreams lately, almost every night.

I dreamt that the baby told me he doesn't like me! :crying:

In another dream I was holding him in my arms when all of a sudden his head fell of and rolled over the floor like a dolls head and then my grandmas dachshund came running and grabbed it!

Do I need a therapist? :help:

congrats to all the new preggers!!

Hehehe .... I am having those crazy dreams too .... and I AM a therapist!!!! I've also read that it is just another lovely part of pregnancy :)

Welcome and congrats to the newly pregnant / newly joining us.

The new baby pics are GREAT!!!! I LOVE Kavi's faux hawk, what a hip 1 month old :)

Belwin Mills, I can't believe you are still on your feet all day at this stage. Wow! I waddle all the time (probably because I am carrying so low). My mom and hubby now call me the penguin :) With your kids, can you create some fun activities to do while seated? Kids are great at being understanding. I work with both adults and kids ... with the adults, I am always seated in my desk chair. The kids usually want me on the floor with them, but have been really understanding when I (recently) explained that I just could not do that anymore (because then I could NEVER get up!!!). Good luck!

Yes for sure I need to figure out something different for the kids. It is just hard when you teach music to sit still. Today we did bunny hop dances and St. Patricks Day jig. It just hits me when I get home and I am in bed asleep by 9.

How bad will a C-section be? My doctor said it might be the way I have to go because of my condition. I have had multiple surgieres before and they were rough. I think a C-section can't be worse than what I have gone through before. At least the after birth will be less. That is one plus I have heard. Vaginal doesn't look a walk in the park either. I am just wondering what I will be doing C-section or vaginal. I wish I was not allergic to so many kinds of medication's. Only one more month to go to find out. If she weighs 8 pounds or over it will be a C-section for sure.

The reason why the doc will do the C-section is because he doesnt want a ruff labor for me cause it could hurt the baby really bad leaving her with life time disabilities.

I had a vaginal with my son and a C-section with my daughter and they were both very rough in their own ways. My conclusion is there is just not an easy or pretty or convenient pain free way to get an infant from point A to point B. With both deliveries I was frankly shocked at how bad I felt afterwards but of course it is eased greatly by finally having a beautiful baby, and either way the discomfort passes and is forgotten :)

I think the reason why I don't like to think about the C/s is because I wasn't prepared for it. After all, I completely trusted my body and it wouldn't do what it was supposed to. They let me push forever and my inner and outer ####### was so swollen that I kinda freaked out when I accidentally touched it. My husband kept telling me not to touch it. Well, after the C/S it took forever (4 hours) until I finally saw ADam. I started pushing at 6pm and he was born at 1am. The first time I saw him was at around 4:30am. Then, the doctor kept coming in, pushing on my scar to see if my uterus was going back. I felt the blood basically shooting out of me (sorry TMI but true). I was crying in pain. I just wanted it to be over and sleep but knew that I still had Adam to feed and care for him. My husband was so exhausted, he had fallen asleep in a chair by the time. Well, my legs were sore, I was swollen (as mentioned), I couldn't get up until the day after the surgery. Eric had do give me a wh*** bath cause I felt like I stunk. After two days I finally took a shower but everything just hurt. I think a scheduled C/S is 'easier' to get through, since you know it's coming, you are prepared and you are not as exhausted from long labor before that.

If my placenta is still very low I might have to have another c/s also, I'm more prepared for it. Still, if my VBAC doesn't work out I would be devastated again but I think I could handle it better in the long run.

Sara has good points. Not that I have had both experiences, but I am sure vaginal birth is no walk in the park either, LOL. Ouch!!!

BelwinMills-

There are pros and cons with both ways. If you end up needing a c-section, knowing ahead of time will help you prepare.

In case that's how it goes for you, some pros:

-You can rest more before it and not have to labor and become exhausted. I didn't have sleep for 2 nights because of labor and then had the c-section, and could not rest well afterwards in the hospital

-You know when the baby will be born(if Dr sets appt for it)

-You won't be sore "down there"

-If you already have had surgeries then you probably know what to expect, and true it couldn't be much worse. The only part is that you will be taking care of a newborn and will be extra tired while healing up, doing baby duties will be hard

cons(from my experience, every case may differ):

-You will need lots of extra help the first week at least, probably a little longer. This is essential!

-Getting in and out of bed the first few days will be almost impossible without help

-It is very hard to change the baby's diaper(b/c of bending) and lift the baby at first

-You have an incision that has to heal while doing all the other firsts a new mom experiences

-It is more painful to try to breastfeed if you don't find a comfy way to hold baby at first so it doesn't hurt your stomach area, it can be done but just saying it's harder

-You can't get out of the hospital bed for at least 12 hours after the c-section, and then getting up is very hard at first. You feel like your stomach is going to fall out. They want you to try getting up, and it's scary at first.

-After you briefly see the baby in the operating room, the baby goes with dad to the nursery while you get stitched up alone

-You are in "recovery" for an hour to an hour and a half, and then only will they bring the baby back in to you, if she/he is done at the nursery

Those are just some things to expect if you have a c-section. It's not meant to scare it's the reality of it. :) But remember like Sara said, no way will be easy hehe.

As for bleeding afterwards...TMI but I did for 4 weeks(it got gradually less) and then the 5th week spotted, only stopped a few days ago, even with the c-section. Someone I know who had their baby vaginally stopped bleeding earlier. I guess everyone is different!
