Hey ladies,

Any advice for soothing sciatica? I've been trying heating pads and stretches that the doc suggested, has helped a little, but the past day or so, it seems worse than normal. I have generally only experienced that lovely sharp pain down my leg when I am walking or standing, but today, I was sitting down with a client and all of a sudden, had shooting pains down my left leg. Apparently, I made a face (which I didn't even realize!) because my client was worried that I was going into labor :)

Baby has been kicking like crazy today, which I LOVE feeling. He or she is still so low, the kicks are coming just a little above my pubic area. My doc assures me the baby will move north at some point, but I am 7 months now and nothing happening. I guess I should be thankful that I am not getting kicked in the ribs! :)

try elevating your legs and rest.... That was the only thing that helped my sister.

My baby has just started to aim his kicks in the ribs, it seems like he's getting his feet stuck in there sometimes. ouch!

We had our ultrasound today and they estimated that I'm carrying about 4pounds and 12ounces of baby around. :)

wow I am starting to waddle like a pregnant lady. Everything is hurting and down there is getting sorer everyday. Ouch. I am going to ask my doc tomorrow about it. I think I need to start sitting down when I work. How many of you have jobs that you have to stand on your feet for 7 hours a day? I can't wait for Spring Break and rest.

I had good success with elevating one side with a pillow when lying or sitting. Kinda semi on your side, but not completely. In a chair I just stuffed a small pillow or folded towel under the hip on the side that hurt. Shifting my weight to the less painful side made it more bearable. Also, if you can handle it, lay on the floor, on your back and put your legs up on the couch or chair for about 10-20 minutes. Pretend your sitting in a chair lying down. Be sure to use extra care and get help getting up because all the blood can go to your head and make you dizzy or faint. This position does wonders for taking pressure off your spine. If your doctor allows it, use a heating pad or ice pack for 15-20 minutes on your low back or hip while in this position.

We are expecting again!!

On cold days, I waddle more because I hurt so much more. The aches and pains don't really ease up much, unfortunately. My doctor told me that that my body is producing a hormone called Relaxin (don't know how it's spelled) which is loosening up the ligaments and that it can be very painful. I have a desk job, which is great, because there is absolutely no way I could stand or walk all day. I can barely make it through the grocery store!

Take it easy as much as you can
