Thanks for the responses :) I have been dosing myself with tons of Vitamin C and clear liquids. I did get ahold of my ob-gyn today and he said I could take something for the cough, Robotussin DM (apparently ONLY that kind of Robotussin). I just sent hubby to the store. The doc says I have the flu and I probably popped a rib out from coughing so hard (why I have a sharp pain whenever I breathe). I am so much happier now that I know there should be some relief.

My doc also let me take sudafed (but only the real thing).

I'm surprized about the Sudafed. My wife's doc said not to take that.

i guess it all depends on your dr...mine gave me a list of safe meds to take and sudafed was on it....

When hubby went to the pharmacy to pick up the Robitussin, he asked the pharmacist to make sure he was getting the right kind. Well, the pharmacist told him I MUST have misunderstood the doctor, because Robitussin DM is NOT okay for pregnant women. So hubby came home with another version of Robitussin, the kind that loosens things up but is not a cough suppressant. I called the doc to confirm and he said that Robitussin DM (the kind with a cough suppressant) is safe for pregnant women who are not in early pregnancy. So poor hubby ran back to the store to get that kind :)

I really hope you feel better soon. I know for me, it's really uncomfortable to cough...and I'm not even sick.

Hope you are getting plenty of rest (L)

Thanks Tracy! I am trying to rest, not as easy though because I feel so lousy. We are supposed to fly to Florida on Saturday to visit my mom, hopefully I can travel then.

On the funny and probably TMI side of things .... one of the pregnancy side effects that I didn't have until now was wetting myself ... but now, with all this coughing and sneezing, it happened and freaked me out at first!!! Then I realized why my pants were wet

yup that has happend to me a couple times....until you get over the coughing try wearing some panty liners that may help

also i was reading on babycenter.com about not be able to get a good nights sleep and one thing was about going to the bathroom in the middle of the night...i know i make at least 3 trips.....here is a good tip that i am sure you can use during the day as well...

You can cut down on nighttime trips to the bathroom by drinking plenty of fluids during the day but limiting your intake in the hours before you go to bed. Avoiding coffee and tea late in the day is also a good idea, but you're probably already doing that because of the caffeine.

Another tip: When you pee, lean forward to help completely empty your bladder

Like I've said before -- and we've all experienced -- pregnancy is SO glamorous

I don't sleep well at all anymore, but it's not because of frequent trips to the bathroom. It's the throbbing pain I get in my hips when I lie on my side for too long. I'm so tired of being so tired...and yes, I know, it's only going to get worse (the tiredness) when the baby comes.

my hips don't hurt it is my left shoulder that bothers me big time when i try to sleep on it...i try to sleep on my left as much as i can but the right just seems to work better for me...

i just did a search about how to help with the hips...maybe this will help you

A final tip: If lying on your side puts too much pressure on your hips, buy a soft egg-crate foam mattress pad. The egg-carton-shaped layer goes on top of your mattress and under the sheet and regular mattress pad for added comfort and air-circulation and is available in a range of sizes.

I tried to wean my baby (1 year and 3 months year-old). Left him at my mom's place for two days. But during those 2 days both me and smy on were so unhappy. And i had so much milk in my breasts , had to pump it and throw away.

To make a long story short -- I resumed breast feeding.

People ask me if I plan to breastfeed him till he goes to army

Well I guess I will try to wean him again when he is 1,6 or 2 years.

Well I guess I will try to wean him again when he is 1,6 or 2 years.

You can wean him now if you feel that's what you want to do, it's your personal choice. Abrupt weaning can be traumatic for the baby and very uncomfortable for you, it usually doesn't work at all as you could see. The best way to do it is gradually. There are several resources online to guide you through it, like this one:

Step 1:

Proceed slowly. Your baby may find abrupt weaning traumatic, and it can lead to uncomfortable engorgement and mastitis in your breasts. Mastitis is an infection that can cause fever and flulike symptoms, as well as pain, hardness, redness, or heat in your breast - usually just one breast, not both.

Step 2:

Eliminate one daily feeding session at a time over a period of weeks or even months, starting with the nursing session that seems the least important to your baby emotionally.

Step 3:

Offer your baby a substitute for the breast. If she is less than 1 year old, you may need to substitute formula in a bottle to make sure she gets the nutrition she needs. If she is past her first birthday, eating a variety of foods and drinking from a cup, you may be able to offer her food or distract her with a fun game or activity.

Step 4:

Give extra affection. Weaning can make babies feel vulnerable for a while, and your baby may need added reassurance that you still love her.

Step 5:

Keep your baby occupied by going to the park, taking a walk or playing in the garden.

Step 6:

If your baby clearly wants to nurse, and if your attempts to distract her with other snacks or activities aren't working, it's OK to nurse. This way, you can avoid a battle of wills.

Step 7:

Continue to nurse for comfort if necessary. Often, a more or less weaned baby will want to nurse after a fright or a fall. This is OK. It will take her a while to get used to the other forms of comfort you offer.

Step 8:

Contact your doctor, a lactation professional or your local La Leche League if you experience pain or engorgement while waiting for your milk to dry up. They can offer some solutions for a safe and pain-free transition.

Step 9:

If you wean your baby from breast to bottle, avoid putting her to bed with a bottle. It poses a choking hazard and promotes tooth decay. If she gets thirsty at night, keep a spillproof cup of water nearby and offer it to her when she wakes.

I started weaning my baby a few months ago and it wasn't easy at all, but keep in mind I was his human pacifier lol  BTW we are almost there, I have one session left (he likes to fall asleep on the breast for his afternoon nap) and then it's over, it is not going to be easy because he is at home with me and there is no one else around, but we'll figure it out.

Do one step at a time and be patient, it doesn't happen overnight but it does happen.

Hope it helps and good luck with whatever you decide. :star:

I folded my foam pad and placed it underneath me last night and was MUCH more comfortable. Don't know why I didn't think of it before....maybe because it was out in the garage. I hope my big butt doesn't flatten it out too quickly!
