Sara-Thanks for the words of wisdom and encouragement. You described the feelings perfectly. You're right, I wish we all lived closer! :)

Anna-*hugs* JUst know that what you are feeling is normal! Like Sara said. Yesterday was the first day I didn't cry once, I was so proud of myself. LOL But that was at 2 1/2 weeks post birth. I also am emotional about other things, like my parents and sister moving out of state soon, and I see them almost every day right now. It's like overshadowing the joy of having a new baby. And the overwhelming feelings of being responsible for another life, who is so helpless at the moment, and feeling helpless right after my c-section. They are all normal feelings. It does get better though! Here's something from an article...

Every new mom, at one point or another, will experience a temporary emotional slump, which usually occurs anytime within the first six months after birth. For most women, it lasts only a few days to a few weeks while our bodies adjust to a post-pregnancy state.http://www.parentingweekly.com/baby/baby_information/postpartum_depression.htm

It's only a concern if it lasts longers than a few weeks. I'll be praying for you! I am sure things will get better day by day. And it's true, looking at your baby's adorable face can help. :) And if you feel like you need more help at home, let someone know. It's very hard the first week.

Anna, it will get better. Mason is a month old and it is easier. I can handle things so much better and I feel more confident. Just take one day at a time. My back is also killing me, try to find a confortable arm chair and boppy pillow helps a lot.

I remember I cried the whole night when we first got home. Now I don't. I am also by myself, I have no family in the States and Drew's family lives far so I am responsible for everything. And we are moving on top of that.

Stina, how is your breastfeeding? If Kavi doesn't latch well, nipple shield is a great help. I used one and it worked for me. Then you can stop using it once Kavi learns to latch better.

I wanted to add that I cried a lot when Eman was born. I was also unsure about how I could do it all and it was really tough for me. I thought I had post partum but I hesitated with speaking to anyone about it. As time went by those sad feelings have gone away. I still wonder if I am capable of doing it all but I think it helps to take it one day at a time. I truly admire those of you who are doing this without family around. I was in pieces before my family moved down here. Just know that what you are feeling now is perfectly okay. And if through time you are still feeling sad then definitely speak to your doctor about it.

Nizzy, thanks for writing about your experience too.

Yesterday I got a little overwhelmed again but today I feel good so far. :)

Lyuba, he seemed to almost latch the other day, but I don't know if he got much milk. He ate formula afterwards and seemed really hungry. B/c of not having a great pumping schedule I don't make enough milk for all the feeding,so it's about 40% breast milk and 60% formula right now. As for pumping, I had bought the Medela Swing which is only one pump. I assumed there wouldn't be an issue with b-feeding so I thought I'd only need to pump occasionally...so I kind of screwed up that decision. It takes double the time to pump. It gets really tiring when Kavi also needs to have formula and then I have to take awhile to pump. I have looked into rentals but the prices seemed to have gone up and honestly I am probably just going to keep using the Swing for now. I am happy he is getting some breast milk at least like I said earlier.

hi stina, just wanted to let you know i had the same problems, i would nurse Dylan for what seemed forever and he would still be hungry so i would finish with formula, i tried for a month or so but it came down to i did not make enough milk...i pumped, nursed tried everything.....but it was not meant to be so i solely formula fed Dylan after a while, i felt terrible at the time like i wasnt doing my job as mom, but my son is now a healthy happy 11 month old!

Tracy, you look adorable :)

I went yesterday for my gestational diabetes test. At the doctor, he told me, no news is good news, that they wouldn't call me unless there was a problem.

Well, this afternoon, I got a message that the secretary there called!!! Talk about anxiety!!!! It all worked out though, when I called back, she was just calling to schedule more appointments. She told me that I was fine, did not have diabetes. Such a relief, I can't believe how anxious I was!
