I ask for your prayers today! My water broke, so it looks like today is the day! I started crying when I knew that today is the day. I am so excited! I will let you know how it goes :P So far, no super contractions. The doctor said to stay home for an hour or two and then go in! WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!

Argh! You're going to beat me to it! j/k :P

Good luck honey! You picked a good day, today is my dad's birthday. And if it doesnt happen until tomorrow, you'll have a super-sweet Valentines' baby!

She probably will win the race with you...then again you never know..this might be the day for you as well...;)

I think little Mr. Moroccan Butterball is going to take his dear sweet time. He's been in position for a coupla weeks, but the starting gate still isnt open and he still hasnt dropped. Im scheduled for c-section on Monday, so I wont have to wait much longer. For that, Im glad. With all the other messes going on, at least I dont have to wonder what day Ill go into labor :)

Besides, Ill still hold the "First MENA baby of 2008" title :)

Woohoo Ace!!! Good luck ... can't wait to read all about it :)

Marry American - I have just started having some numbness, tingling too. I've read that it can be normal in pregnancy to have symptoms like that. I am going to check it out next week with my doctor just for my peace of mind (and I also get to drink that lovely drink for my diabetes test so hopefully that worry will be put to rest).

New Orleans - Welcome and good luck. How far along are you?

This topic might have beed discussed already.. What do you think about preventive vaccination? Is it worth giving shots to our babies? And is vaccination for kids free in US? (My son is 1 year old)

On another note. I have been breasfeeding for 1 year and 3 months. Now thinking about quiting.. Maybe too early? still doubting.. When did you quit breastfeeding?

You are AMAZING! I've been breastfeeding for over 3 months and I am SO SICK of it!

You don't have to quit if you don't want to... The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for at least the first year of life, and the World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding for at least the first two years of life.

As far as the vaccinations go, I recommend this book:

We use Dr. Sears' Alternative Vaccine Schedule (page 236)

For those of you that have recently given birth, did your baby slow down or seem to stop moving altogether in the last days before delivery. Ive been super-tired so Ive been alot less active and so has the baby. Is this normal?

that happened to me with both of my kids, I think at the end they just get so big and its too tight in there for much movement. My son was a brute so he slowed dramatically about a month before I had him but with this little daugher it was only the last week or so....

My little guy slowed down towards the end as well. I was worried too so I went to see the doctor just in case. I was told the same thing, that the space gets too small for the growing baby so they can't continue with their gymnastic routines.

I'm getting people telling me to have another one already. He just turned one for pete's sake! I am soooo not ready for the next one so I will continue giving my blank stare and smile through their "oh you should have another one so that Eman has someone to play with..." blah blah blah.

I have been breastfeeding for almost 2 years now (although it is down to one time a day at the moment and about to cut it off completely) and I have loved every minute of it, I know I will miss it terribly when it'll stop completely. If it is any consolation, breastfeeding gets A LOT easier when babies grow older, they feed faster and less frequently because they get more milk in one time and once you introduce solids it is even easier than that (probably useless for me to say so you most likely knew this already :P ). The first 2-3 months (esp the 1st) were really hard though, but I am glad I stuck to it. As I always say, do what you feel is best for the baby and yourself as well, regardless of whatever smart comments you might get from people. It rarely happens, it's mainly positive things, but I do get the occasional comment or look when they hear I have breastfed my son for so long. <_<

Is that vaccination schedule very different than the usual one? I don't have that book and I didn't even know of it but I am very curious. My son is done with his shots (for now, more to come between 4 to 6 years of age for some boosters) and we never had any probs or side effects whatsoever, but I was nervous a lot every time he had to get a shot...I'm thankful all went well.

About movement towards the very end...My son was the ultimate kicker, it was non-stop the whole time and he never really slowed down, he was still very very active all the way to the end, but his movements were very different of course because he couldn't move all that much in there. But I heard babies slowed down at the very end from pretty much most preggos I know, so Yasmine don't worry it is perfectly normal. If you worry just do what you most likely already know of...drink something cold (milk or sweet) and lay down on your side for your kick count for peace of mind.

Oh and NewOrleans I keep forgetting to congratulate you! Best wishes for everything!

And special congrats to nannygirl too...she is expecting one of the very few girls on this thread!

I have been getting that a lot too...I'd love another child, but I don't think I am ready either, mainly because I suffer the complete lack of support system around me, we have no family nearby at all. Yeah I am lazy like that... I know it can be done but I don't want to complicate my life with another baby right now, it is in our future plans, probably next year (I turn 32 in may so I don't want too wait too long, I'd prefer having the second before 35 if possible). This july my husband gets out of the military and goes into a new job that might require us moving...a toddler, pregnant and moving God knows where to? Thanks but no thanks :lol: We are planning to move back to Italy with his new job but we can do that only once my citizenship is completed (there is always have a chance we would have to move back to the USA later on and I don't want to go through the whole USCIS thing again!), but considering I am a july filer stuck in the blackhole maybe they'll schedule an interview by the time my son goes off to college... I'd be too old then for another baby...

ETA: I wonder if Anna delivered yesterday or ended up having a Valentine's Day baby, can't wait to hear news!

I think as with everything...you just feel when you are ready for another baby. Right after Adam´s birth I didn´t want to pregnant again...EVER but after about two or three months I was already thinking about another baby and the wish grew stronger by the week. Since we both wanted babies close together we decided to go for it. I´m - at times - not sure if it was the right decision now but I´m sure we´ll manage it and then we´re done with children and just enjoy raising them...not making them and baking them  .

@The ladies who breastfed for one year or even longer: Did you ever have some knid of a down time with nursing? I know that when Adam was about nine months old (before I found out I was pregnant again) it got on my nerves sooo bad. I wanted my body back and although I really enjoy nursing, it just got on my nerves and I was fed up with it. Now it´s better but I only nurse at night (even though it´s about seven or eight times at night) and I weaned him off the nursing sessions to fall asleep. I just put him down now and he´s actually doing really good most of the time. Anywho...enough of that. Fact is, I will breastfeed Peanut no. 2 for one year and I will have to wean Adam off ASAP, although I really enjoy nursing.

Thanks for all this good information. I guess most of us who want very much to breastfeed are pretty nervous about being successful. I definitely want to be as prepared as possible

Yes!! I totally did...just like you I felt many many times I just wanted my body back, but it usually subsided pretty fast.

Question for breastfeeding moms.

If you ever pump, how many ounces can you pump in 15 minutes?

I can only pump 1 ounces (not enough) but I have started taking fenugreek, hopefully it will help.
