Stina, I do feel your pain.

Mason latched perfectly the first time and then he started having problems. I refused the formula completely in the hospital and I talked to every lactation consultant there. They told me I have pseudo-inverted nipples and gave me a breast shield which helped. Now he can latch well without a shield because my nipples are in much better shape.

BUT! I don't make enough milk, he eats from both breats for 40 minutes and then he cries and cries! I have this super pump so I decided to see how much milk I make. I pumped it instead of feeding him and I could only pump an ounce which isn't enough as he will take 4 ounces of formula right after nursing!

I am going to get some felugreek and hopefully it will help. That's really frustrating though. I know all those things about pacifiers but the only way you can keep this guy calm during changing is to give him a pacifier because he HATES to be changed and bathed and he screams on top of his lungs.

That was one hell of a "burger" ...

My son never wanted a pacifier. We tried to use it when he was about 2 months old, we brought one with us when we were out a couple of times, just in case he got suddenly hungry to buy us time to get back home or something. But he never knew how to keep it in his mouth, he would always end up sucking it in this really weird funny way and eventually he would spit it up and cry even louder out of frustration. So I saw no need in pushing it to make it work, but I must admit it was mainly because he never was a crier for longer than a couple of minutes anyway (we were very blessed about this!). If he sees a paci now he thinks it's a toy and start playing with it or bite it, but no sucking  I tried it on the plane a few months ago when we flew to/back from Europe, they say sucking on somnething eases the ear discomfort when the plane takes off/lands but no..Sean only bites it  But I can totally see how helpful/lifesaver a paci can be at times! Truth is every baby is different and only you know what's best for yours and you have to trust your instinct.

Lyuba I am glad to hear things are working out for you now, hopefully your milk supply will increase and it will get even better! (F)

Eveline congrats again on your second pregnancy, I don't remember if I said something when you first announced it but I do read all of your posts. I just sometimes don't comment on stuff because something else comes up and then I forget or something. Your belly looks great! I think you're doing wonderful with the breastfeeding thing (I also remember your post about how much you love it, just like me  ) and considering you have another one on the way there's no way you could feed 2 at a time, I totally agree with what you said. Best wishes with everything. (F)

Marilyn it' sprobably nothing to be worried about, lots of ####### around to catch these days, but I'd definitely mention it to the doc. Better play safe than sorry. Let us know how you feel and how it went with the doc. (F)

Marry American,I never had that tingling sensation and numbness, just report it to your doc and see what they say. I'm sure it's nothing.

I wonder what Anna (ace13) is doing....any news girl??? Maybe you will have a Valentine's day baby (L)

Ladies, I´m so sorry breastfeeding doesn´t work out for some of you. Please don´t feel bad if you do end up giving formula. In the end, what counts is a happy baby. It is crazy how much pressure moms have to get through from...all natural non medicated birth to not having a c/s to breastfeeding, feeding organic food etc. Why can´t just every mom do whatever she thinks is right. When I talked to some moms about the birth I got the "Well you took the easy way out with the C/s"...I didn´t even know what to say about that...I worked so hard and got no happy moment in the end (I guess some of you can relate here). Anyway, what I mean to say is...just do whatever feels best for you and what´s good for baby.

@churipu: Thank you very much. I don´t even have enough time to think about the pregnancy, Adam is keeping me busy. He made a "burger" while we were having dinner. I had just mentioned to my mom that he didn´t poop today and he straightened his legs and got all red and quiet under the table....Is there any magic thing I can do to keep his hands out of his burger while changing the diaper? I always give him a marshmallow and then hurry the heck up to clean him up in time. Don´t know if that is good for him but it certainly works

Thanks for all the encouragement and tips, ladies. :)(F)

Eveline-I can't believe someone said you took the easy way out with a c/s! I know I also labored for such a long amount of time and it still ended in c/s. We can't control these things. Just can't believe someone would act like that about your c/s.

Kavi doesn't really love the pacifiers. Like Lyuba said, sometimes it helps during a diaper change or when he is sleepy but not hungry. Otherwise he doesn't seem to care about it much.

He is a good baby so far, Thank God. :) He only cries sometimes during a diaper change or getting his clothes changed. If he has gas he makes little sounds but he doesn't really cry. I pray it stays this way, haha. He also sleeps for 3-4 hours at a time at night. He is so cute and he just looks around a lot, like observing everything and thinking. We gave him a sponge bath and washed his hair, and he seemed to actually like it. Funny guy.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

In Italy we say that the mom of all idiots is unfortunately always pregnant....

I never had this problem, but I know the changing diaper thing has become more and more challenging as he grew older...he used to be fine with it until he was about 1 year old, then he started fighting it...sometimes harder than others, I always have to come up with something new everytime...he's too old now to be tricked with something he already had/saw...but we manage. Thankfully soon enough we'll start potty training...I can't wait to be done with those freaking diapers!!!

i give Jareth a diaper and ask him to be my "big helper" and hold it for me... it ties up his hands and when im done cleaning him up, i get the diaper from him and give him a big "thank you" and smile... he hasnt gone for his "burger" while ive been changing him... while his daddy changes his diaper is another story entirely!

When I finally saw Kavi's face, my heart was so happy and he looked so beautiful and sweet. He really is so sweet and cuddly. We love him so much!!!

congrats stina, he is absolutely gorgeous!

about the breastfeeding... if he is happy and healthy, you are doing absolutely wonderful and you dont need to worry... you are doing all you can, and you seem to really understand that it all comes down to doing what is right for kavi and you...

cant wait to see more pics :)

This topic might have beed discussed already.. What do you think about preventive vaccination? Is it worth giving shots to our babies?

here is a good site with information on facts and myths around immunizations:

immunization facts and myths

i like that this site backs up its information with actual studies and explanations of them instead of speculation and anecdotes

I have my next doc. appt. in two weeeks. I am very concerned because at night I have a tingling sensation in my fingers, hands, and arms. This sensation sometimes goes all the way up to my shoulders. I have been told that when people have diabetes they feel tingling sensations in the fingers. On my next appt. I will drink that #######, wait an hour to find out if that is the case. And this heartburn kills me every night.

Did anyone else have that awful numbness and tingling?

not the numbness but the heartburn....everynight i had to take 2 tums with lots of water just for it to go away so i could sleep....yuck i hate that!!!!

i would definatly mention that to your dr. and see what they have to say...i think Jax had something like that and hers was Carpal Tunnel Syndrome...that will go away after birth....something to look into and talk to your dr. about

Yes I had the same thing. It will go away when the baby is born. I took the test for diabetes and I don't have it. The drink isnt that bad.

ok trying this again. I went into the hospital for an ultrasound, the doctor was haing a hard time hearing the fetal heart beat. I was so worried that something was wrong, but the ultrasound showed one very large active baby with a heart beat. This is our third try, with the other two pregnancies ending in a miscarraige. I was very relieved to see a live baby. Now we're starting to get excited.
