About gaining weight during pregnancy...I did awful!!!! I started out in shape at 130 lbs, ended up weighing 60 lbs more at the end right before delivery! My belly was so enormous people kept giving me weird looks whenever I said it was indeed ONE baby in there and not 2... :help: BTW I was fearing an enormous baby because of my weight and belly size but my son actually turned out to be 8 lbs which is not small but not huge either.

BTW I lost it all and now I'm back to 130 lbs and I didn't diet at all...I must admit breastfeeding had a lot to do with losing weight I think

The first few weeks I was losing weight really really fast, then I must admit the last 20 lbs were really stubborn...took awhile...then again I didn't really try hard (NO DIET, NO WORKING OUT), I have no family nearby and had the worst tear to recover from so I didn't really have time/will to get my butt to the gym

I need some help gals...

I just talked to my doctor's office because I needed to change my appointment and then after I did that I realized I would be out of birth control before I saw the doctor so I asked about that and the lady said she could give me a couple of sample packs of the BC i am taking now which is Femcon and then the doctor could give me a prescription when I see her... I told her that was ok but that my health insurance doesn't cover Femcon (it does but only if I order by mail and then it is still 23 bucks a month) the lady said to find out which BC my insurance does cover....

here is where I need some help.. I was wondering what kind of birth control you all take...

the lady asked me for ones I had taken before and I told her Allesse and she then said what else, in a way that made it seem like that wasn't a very good one :blink:

So my appt was today. I am still just about 1 cm dilated, and a little more effaced(was 50% last time), but the good part is that the baby's head is even lower than last week. My midwife said she thinks I will have a fast labor b/c of how low the baby's head is. I sure hope that's true!

Also she stripped my membranes. It actually didn't hurt. I expected it to hurt really bad from what I have read and heard but it didn't. I guess I am lucky there. So still just waiting to see what happens. That was a few hours ago and I don't have any contractions or anything.

Next appt is Tuesday but I reallllllly hope I get to cancel it because I had the baby by then!

Well you must have done good still if you got back to your pre-preggy weight! :)

Marilyn-Sorry I can't be of help, I have never taken birth control pills before.

I used to take Allesse 28 and I had good results with it. Its a very low-dose pill. I got sick on all the higher dose ones. I have PCOS and the doc put me on BC years ago to help get that under control. Worked great. I think they name of the pill has changed, but the equivalent was just fine for me. I was off it for about 5 months before I got pregnant, so it sticks with you for awhile.

Id stick with what works. If you took Allesse before, do it agian, its simple and cheaper.

Doesn't "stripping the membranes" sound so gross and painful?! haha. Thankfully it wasn't painful for me. But the phrase is just weird sounding. lol

Thanks for the wishes! :D

the generic brand for Allese is Lutera which is what I was on before and it was only about 13 bucks month after insurance .. now it has gone up to 20 bucks month... but it is just over 6 bucks a month if you order by mail... I might have to look into this ordering by mail thing....

oh another question i have.. does it matter if you switch BC?? like I am now taking Femcon and if I switch to Allese will it have any harmful effects or anything...??

Marilyn...I used Otho-TriCyclen for years. Never had a problem with it. With insurance, it was still a bit costly, though.

I did my glucose tolerance test this morning. It wasn't NEARLY as bad as I imagined. In fact, it wasn't unpleasant at all. Got a drink that tastes exactly like a flat orange Crush soda. Perfectly tolerable. Now...just hoping the doctor doesn't call for "additional testing"

Welcome, nannygirl!

Hi Everyone :)

Nothing new here...had another appointment and I am still 1cm, but like Stina my doctor said he is a bit lower. Ahhhh, the last few weeks are no fun!!

My back is killing me :help:

I have gained about 40lbs. I am fine with whatever as long as baby is healthy. I can always work it off later. I am planning on breastfeeding, too, so I am hoping that that helps like everyone says.

I will keep you all posted. Stina....can't wait for your to go into labor so that I know I am next :)

Hi nannygirl...no HE front loader here, but as for laundry detergent I used free and clear(store brand) to wash the baby's clothes.

Tracy-Best wishes for the glucose test results! Yeah the drink wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. :)

Anna(ace)-I have felt so bored today ever since my appt! I think because the waiting is getting more annoying and I wonder which day(or today??!) I will go into labor. And I keep hoping that it's the day when I wake up every morning. But then at night I think, tomorrow is good, lol, just so I can get sleep before labor starts!

I have had some cramps but not too much else after having the membranes stripped. She said I might have spotting afterwards but I didn't even have any of that so far!
