Jonesie, he is very cute!

Stina, you are almost there!

I actually gained a lot of weight, 50 pounds total.:wacko: Now I have to lose it all. I am already much better but it is going to be a long road. Hope breastfeeding will help. This guy loves to suck!

you look great!! :)

TY :) I feel like a hippo with the mumps LOL.

wow I just went to the doctor and I have only gained 7 pounds. Same thing happened with our little girl she kept hiding her face. I can't wait for the last ultra sound pics. I am so happy no more blood drawing after today. Had the blood sugar test. How much weight does your doc want u to gain? How much weight did everyone gain? I was told only 15 to 20 pounds.

Ditto!! I have that shirt LOL!!

If I count from my pre-pregnancy weight, Ive only gained about 8 pounds. If I include the weight I lost in the first trimester and gained back in the second, Ive gained about 20 pounds total. Doc is pleased with my progress, so I guess Im on target. I passed my glucose test with flying colors, thankfully. I imagine not having GD has a bit to do with my slow weight gain.

I love these striped shirts. I have 4 of them in different colors. I got them online during JCP's end of summer clearance sale for $5 each. Mom even found a cute onesie for the baby with the same striped colors as this shirt :D

Was good to read your posting about weight gain. My doc is happy with how I have been doing ... haven't really gaained anything and am actually down 2 pounds from pre-pregnancy weight. Things I have read though suggest that, if you are overweight to start, weight gain should be 15-25 pounds. Will there be a problem if I DON'T gain that much? I keep thinking I should have gained something by now ... although I have read that it happens at a faster rate in the last trimester.

For those ladies who didn't gain alot ... how much had you gained by 23 weeks?

Wait, so... if you are supposed to gain less if you're overweight, and then you lose the same amount from breast feeding, etc. after the baby is born... does that mean pregnancy is a great weight loss plan in the long run??

My midwife didn't tell me how much not to gain over...I had to ask her, so she said I should aim for about 25 lbs gained. I started out overweight, so Dr's all say different things. But she said not to freak out if I gained more than that, as long as my pregnancy is going good. Well like I said, I have gained about 30lbs...only 5 more than I wanted to. So I don't feel too bad about it. But my midwife thinks that within a few days of delivery I will lose 20lbs because a lot of it is water weight from the last month and baby weight. Sounds good to me! I did good at the beginning but the last 3 months have been harder, and anyway the baby grows so much bigger near the end. I wonder how much the baby weighs! I hope he's not too big, lol.

I hope he takes after mine and Suj's birthweights, I was like 6 lbs 12 oz and Suj was in the upper 7lbs. Wishful thinking! :)

Everytime I get out of bed or get up, I expect my water to break. Of course it doesn't but it's that "anytime now" feeling...it's exciting but scary!

I didn't lose any weight in the 1st trimester, though I did have morning sickness. I still gained about 5 lbs probably the 1st tri.

I think it's fine if you don't gain a lot as long as your Dr is fine with it. The baby takes what it needs from you.

It's rare but I have read stories of people who did lose weight while pregnant and ended up weighing less when the baby was born than they did before they were pregnant! They are usually overweight at the start, I don't think it'd be safe for someone who started out very thin. On a board I participate on, a girl has been losing weight since she got pregnant and the Dr says it's safe because she is eating more healthy and even with eating a lot, the baby takes so much. It's interesting!

I am hoping for the same thing! I even put towels on the bed hoping it would happen :) I am so sore!! My back, sides and every movement he makes. I thought they were supposed to move less!! And when I stand up I feel sharp pains on the cervix. Go dilation go!! I am registering with the pediatrician this afternoon, so maybe that will give him the go :) One can only hope

I'm with you Lyuba, I gained (hate to admit, hate to admit) ......29 pounds and I'm only 27 weeks now. I started out underweight and I don't eat any unhealthy food but my body just seems to pack on the pounds.. Must be a metabolism thing. well that excuse doesn't go well with my doctor because he gives me ####### about my "excessive" weight gain everytime I have to step on that oh-so dreadful scale. boohoo...

I still fit in my size 6 jeans but he keeps telling me to excercise and diet! I have never dieted my whole life and I don't think its good during pregnancy. i eat healthy, but i just can't help the weight gaining. I'm confident though that after giving birth it'll all come off quick. fingers crossed.

ace&stina: good luck girls, hang in there!!

My water broke when I was 5 centimeters dilated. I was about to get an epidural and suddenly I was laying in the pool of water.

yup , that was me this time around... i weigh about 12 pounds less then I did before I was pregnant... but I did have extenuating circumstances...

I lost a few pounds during the beginning of the pregnancy... and then when I was going through all that ####### back in December I lost a lot of weight because I wasn't eating very much...

@JP: ask her if she's registered somewhere (babies R Us, Target, Pottery barn kids)

I think you should ask her what she wants. I already got so many baby things and we registered for everything else we need and it really driving me nuts to get the 52nd receiving blanket from Walmart in a color I would never have picked out myself.

If you still want to give her something unique, I'd crochet or quilt something myself, like a blanket or socks or something like that would mean a lot to me.

They aren't registered. They are also an older couple so I don't think they had a baby shower or anything like that. I'm pretty sure they already bought all the things they need which is why I want to get them something unique.

They came to my wedding and they got me a very beautiful hand painted bowl. They are a very sentimental couple so I was trying to think along those lines. But thank you for the tip and I wish I knew how to make something. :(

Hello Everyone,

Baby Sandwich. Get some assorted baby staples : socks, onesies, burp rags, lap pads, etc in all different colors and make a sub sandwich. Like some yellow and orange washclothes for mustard and cheese, white onesies for mayo, green shirt for lettuce, tan burp pads for bread, little white socks for onions. You'd be amazed how many things you'll find to fit in there. Tie it up with a ribbon and you've got a cute gift. My SIL got one of these as a last-minute baby gift and we didnt want to undo it because it was so cute. But you can never have too many socks, onseies, burp rags, etc. so its practical and pretty.

You might also want to get them some nice picture frames. Thats not something most parents buy for themselves before baby arrives.

A hand/footprint kit might also be good. Thats another fun thing Id love to have, but didnt really seem practical enough to outweigh buying diapers and wipes, y'know?

ETA: you can make baby baskets, if you're in the mood to be crafty. Get some wicker baskets, some batting, some ribbon, and a pretty fabric. Line the baskets with the batting and fabric and staple it down around the outside edge. Wrap the ribbon around the basket to cover the staples and arrange in a little bow.
