@Eveline: exactly. everything i read about co-sleeping says it's safer for a few reasons, like SIDS, as long as you follow the safety rules, which only takes common sense, if you're under the influence, don't do it, the position of the baby in bed, if you are taking strong medicine that will make it hard for you to wake up, if you're a heavy sleeper or have sleep apnea (which is charles case). I would never let Charles sleep with the baby by himself, btw, but i'm safe.

Also i don't plan on co-sleeping for too long. Only when he's a small baby. For sure once he starts crawling he'll start sleeping in the crib, because he won't be in the position I put him in bed, he might fall off the bed or something because he can move by himself, or crawl under the blankets, so that won't be safe anymore. Even though i'm the lighter sleep ever, if he's extremely quiet it might happen one day and i don't wanna risk.

@Vi Mazzella: they'll probably not put it on sale for quite some time. I'd buy it for the regular price. I'm not buying everything from the bedding theme i've decided, like the diaper stacker cuz i know i'll never use them, maybe you should do the same to save money.

@Chrissy25: yay!! congratulations. are you extremely happy? Are you having any other u/s that u know of? did i understand that right that you're worried about denying your grandchildren if you don't move to UK?

Congrats on the GIRL Chrissy!! :D (oh and don't worry, you weren't rambling in your last post hehe) I am sorry you are facing difficult decisions while pregnant, I am sure it brings a lot of stress. :(

Kavi's ped is supposed to call me today with the MRI results. I called them yesterday to see when I should call about the results today, and was told they would call me when they get them. So just waiting today...and I'll let you all know after I find out.

@CSK: I hope you get good news on Kavi's head today. Good luck.

@Nessa: Our ped said that co-sleeping reduces the risk of SIDS because baby doesn't go into that very deep sleep but is always a little aroused to smell mommy or daddy so they're always halfway awake but still asleep. I didn't want Eric to sleep in a bed with Allie but he is doing surprisingly well. He won't get near her and slept on 4 inches at the edge of the bed so that she and me have more room. We had both kids sleep in their beds at around 3 or 4 months. first, they move a lot or want to nurse all night when they smell the milk right there. I can't stand that because then I don't sleep very good but wake up every 10 minutes and second, they move a whole lot, which again, woke me up all the time. Allie wnats to sleep alone anyway. There's no way she'd take a nap in the carrier, a sing, the couch etc. She wants to be in her bed, stick her thumb in her mouth, stare at the wall and eventually go off to sleep. She's weird like that.

I'm contemplating to get a co-sleeper for the next baby. It's so convenient. Hubbie is not a fan of cosleeping, but I think it makes life easier. Especially with the next one Hubbie will only be home 50% of the time (he'll pull "alerts" at his next base - being in the missile silo for 24 hours straight a couple times a month) - and why would I make motherhood harder on me than it's necessary, esp, when I'm alone?!

Jona's crib is in our room still. And it will remain there until we think he's ready to move to his own room, which will not be until he is at least 12 months old. We do not feel comfortable with the SIDS risk to have him in another room so early. Plus I need my baby close :) Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and wait until he makes a noise to verify that he's still breathing. My Dh thinks I'm paranoid, but I just need reassurance that he's safe. I think it's a mommy-thing ;)

@ Twila: Congrats! Great weight for twins!!!!! How is it going at home? How do you feel?

@ Chrissy: Good luck with your decision. Europe definitely has the advantage of the "social net", you can't be without health insurance etc... I'm sure you guys will make the right choice for your family.

 for baby Kavi!

Congrats Chrissy on the girl!

AFM: I got the babies on my health insurance today and took them to their first pediatric appointment. They both have lost even more weight since they were discharged, so we are to up the frequency of feedings, change the supplemental formula for Zak to try to help him with his tummy problems, and are going back for a check on Friday. I go to the ob tomorrow to get my staples out (yay...they have been the worst part) and to get Zak circumsized. I have been battling postpartum swelling that is SLOWLY, FINALLY starting to recede. Something interesting we found out today...the babies blood types. I am O+. One baby is A+ and the other is B-. So...that leaves my husband to AB! We are all different! The doctor told me he rarely sees that.

Stina - great news about Kavi :dancing:

Nessa, they did it for my son in the hospital the day after he was born but I have seen some others on here doing it at a Dr office in the first week or two.

Twila - getting the staples out helps a lot. Now you can just work on fattening those babies up!

Amirah is getting 4 teeth at once and I can tell you, it has NOT been good times around here.....

Hey all! Hope everyone is well.

Stina - Praise the Lord!

Nessa - No, you don't have to convert to Judaism. hehe :P Your obgyn might do them, or the hospital will tell you.

Crissy - go for the citizenship and then figure out a way to use the visa.

To all with new babies or new moms-to-be - they say one of the ways to prevent SIDS is a fan blowing around the baby - doesn't have to be direct air, but it helps to move the CO2 that they exhale and circulate the oxygen. I think co-sleepers are an awesome idea, but we aren't doing it. My hubby and I move too much in the bed and I would just DIE if anything happened to the baby. His crib will be in our room, and I actually think it will be good for him because he'll hear me snoring just like he does now. ;) He'll probably feel like he's still in the womb!
