@ Nessa - I took regular prenatal vitamins and my doctor recommended taking fish oil too.

@ Yaads - I was 8-9 weeks at the first ob-gyn appt. They wouldn't see me before then. I guess that is normal.

@ Stina - Poor Kavi and poor you!. Keep us posted.

Declan crawled forward yesterday for the first time!!! He has had reverse crawling down for a little while, but couldn't do forward until yesterday. I was so excited!!!

yeah my prenatal doesn't come with DHA so I've been buying it. it's like $10 and it lasts 2 months, considering that my prenatals are free, $5 a month is not a bid deal. I don't LOVE fish, but i try to eat occasionally, like once a week, flexseed i buy ground and i add to my smoothie. avocado has a gazillion calories. I always wanted to buy but it never looked good like the avocados do in brazil, so i never bought it because of that, until one day i decided to give it a try, maybe only looked bad, but no, it's impossible to eat. in rbazil they're way bigger and they're like smooth like a papaya, here they're hard like a potato.

so there's this thread in one of the pregnancy boards i'm a member, and ti asks if you're still drinking. here are the results from 300 votes:

Not drinking at all, or at least since learning I'm pregnant - 189 - that's how i believe it should be

an occasional sip - 94 acceptable

1-3 drinks/week - 15 :o

3-7 drinks/week - 1 :o :o

7 or more a week - 1 :o :o :o

seriously if u drink 7 or more drinks a week you have to be an alcoholic. i wonder if those women tell their doctor they're doing that and i hope their children aren't born with FAS

I take a sip of wine when I'm at Mass for Holy Communion...but nothing else. :innocent:

Nessa, I felt terrible seeing that fetal crying...so sad that you can't comfort the baby.

Kavi's MRI appt got moved up to early this morning, so we are already done and back home for awhile...it went fine, but we don't know anything until Tuesday probably. He had to get the IV anesthesia, we were with him while he got the IV and was awake but then they took him to a different area where we couldn't go for the MRI. We waited about 25-30 mins then we could go see him in recovery where he was a little drowsy but he wasn't crying. He was already pointing around at things, which is his new thing he does all the time hehe.

thanks all, and thanks chnst for your experience!

Hello all! Today has been a much quieter day than the past two and I finally have time to post! Hana and Zakaria were born on Wednesday 1/14. The c-section and the recovery is really not that bad. So...to all the pregnant mommas out there...don't worry if you have to have one!

Zakaria Carl: 9:43 am, 6 pounds 9 oz, 18.25 in

Hana Grace: 9:44 am, 6 pounds 7 oz, 18.5 in

I was wondering how big they were because all I heard my ob say is wow, this baby is big. And then the other ob working with her said, this one is big too! The only issue we had was that Hana's blood sugar was too low when she was born. They forewarned me they would check because the babies were not 37 weeks (born at 36 weeks 5 days). After my mom feed her some formula (I was still trembling from the anesthesia), she was fine. They have been rooming in with me and we should hopefully go home tomorrow morning!

Wow... Occasional drinking is fine I guess, though I didn't even take a sip, I was to terrified it could hurt my baby!

@ Nessa: In the end it's even better to not eat fish and rather take purified fish oil or just flax seed oil pills, they purify the fish oil from heavy metals which are in fish. So if you eat the fish, you get DHA/ALA/EPA, but also mercury. If you take the pills, you get the good stuff without the bad stuff. I personally dislike seafood and could never bring myself to eat it, so I was glad anyways that the pills are on the market. I still take them so Jona gets the stuff through his milk, it's really important for brain development.

I don't understand why the FDA released a recommendation last week that pregnant women and toddlers should suddenly eat as much fish as they can; they suddenly think the mercury poisoning is acceptable cause of the good stuff in fish. I disagree, as we know we can buy supplements with the same effects that are safe. Jona will get a supplement as soon as he starts to eat solids. I will offer him fish, but only small organic fish and not too often. I really think it's not worth taking the risk.

I, too, take a ton of fish oil Omega 3 & 6 by Nature's Bounty - awesome stuff! I take 3000 mg a day. I know that it's giving the baby a ton of DHA and for me it gives me all the good stuff, plus a strong, healthy ticker! :star:

@Twila: Congratulations. Your babies are big. Not even some full term babies are that size. Happy birthday babies.

@DHA etc.: I eat fish. I think the body is a great filter, getting rid of most bad things so I won't stress about is. My motto: Ignorace is bliss. Otherwise, I don't think I'd be sleeping at night from all the worries about all that stuff.

Congratulations Twila!!! They look so big!

I am not pregnant, don't have any babies, but I have been reading this topic for several months now (I can't wait to have a baby :) and this is a very interesting topic). So I figured instead of just reading the good news it would be fair to congratulate people too ;)
