Staashi@ Definitely bananas and lots of water!!! I know that those cramps are normal but Oh Gosh my leg still hurting.

Twila @ Good luck girl! I can't wait to see the pics of your little ones on the VJ  .

Nessa@ I went for my appoitnment this Monday and when they told me that my weight was 126 pounds I almost passed out, I told the nurse that it's impossible, 'cause I just weight myself on Saturday and my weight still 118. She made me take my shoes off and it went down 2 pounds= 124.

Well I usually weight myself every Saturday (religiously- first think in the morning before breakfast and completely naked, I think th difference of 6 pounds was because of my work clothes and plus was at the end of the day. But I still in a little bit of a shock.

You look great in your pic, I don't think you look fat  . I'm going for the same test in three weeks.

Mommies@ Could you recommend a place to start buying diapers = THE BEST PRICES please!!, We want to start buying diapers, baby whipes, lotions, and those little things that Sofia will need.

Have a good night girls, hopefully no cramps tonight

Have a quick question for those of you with babies already. My little gem is 5 months old and has caught her first serious cold. Her chest rattles and she has a stuffed/runny nose. Runs a low grade temp on and off, plus she's teething. So here's my question-what do I do for her. I'm already doing the Vic's baby rub on her chest and back. Sucking snot out with nasal aspirator, Tylenol when she needs it. Is there anything else I can do to help her get rid of this darn cold?

Vi: A lot of the moms that I know have suggested buying from www.diapers.com if you want name brand diapers. They have the best prices and will ship to your home. However, most of the teachers I work with that have young children totally suggest buying generic diapers. Even my sister said up until the time the babies really start crawling and toddling, the generic work fine and are SO much cheaper. One friend buys Walmart brand and another swears by the generic Costco/Sam's Club brand. I definitely think we will be going with the Costco brand when we go through the packs that I have bought or were given to us.

Eveline: I didn't think you (or anyone else) said anything bad about c-sections. Part of my talk has been trying to get over the nerves I have about the impending procedure!

At the hospital I am at, apparently today was a crazy day. A change in weather triggered a whole bunch of women to go into labor. My husband couldn't believe when more than half the rooms were empty last night and there is not an empty bed tonight!

I have used generic diapers the whole time except when I had name brand I got as gifts from people. For me there was no real difference, what mattered it seemed is how long the diaper is worn more than anything else. It's a relief to me since the generic diapers are about 1/2 the cost af huggies or pampers. Kavi doesn't sleep through the night (argh!) so he gets diaper changes overnight. When he has slept longer amounts, I found the same results with both kinds of diapers. I hear all different things though so you have to decide and test out brands if you want to make sure you like a certain diaper. :)

My little guy just will not sleep the last few nights  ...he falls asleep fine, then he's crying and crying 20 minutes later--as soon as I open the door he is quieter, but the only thing that will truly settle him down back to sleep is a breast. I feel like an enabling mother. My husband is at work, so I can't send him in to try something else (I swear sometimes mom=milk). Aargh!

I'm not a fan of leaving babies to cry, but right now it seems like he needs to learn how to get himself back to sleep. He's fed, he's warm enough, he's not poopy and he's exhausted.

@Vi: It's hard to buy diapers in advance. They outgrow the little ones so fast and a diaper that works for one person leaks for the other. Then some babies get rashes from certain diapers (that happens a lot if you switch brands too much in the beginnig). If you really want to buy ahead, I'd recommend fragrance free wipes or sensitive. Buy size 2 and 3 but not too many. We started with Pampers swaddlers and the Huggies kind that are super soft. We now use chlorine free diapers (7th generation) and I swear by them. They are a little more expensive but ingredients really matter to me and I hate the artificial smell of pampers and the gel that comes out of other diapers. Diapers.com or amazon is good. Since you live in the city, you can check in at stores like Babies R Us if they have sales.

neworleansbound: I agree- humidifiers work great esp at night! If it doesn't get better, I'd take her to the pedi and have her lungs checked, since you said that her chest rattles. Does she cough? Hope she feels better soon!

@Zaidsmommy: awww I love the pics of Zaid and his rubberduckies! He is getting so big!

I agree on not buying diapers in advance, you never know how big or small your baby will be and if he/she will have a reaction to a diaper. we started with huggies and stuck with huggies. Zaid never wore newborn size diapers , was in size 1 at birth but he was in size 2 by 2 months old. He is now 8 months and has been in size 3's for months now. We use target brand unscented wipes. They are a great price and are very comparable to every brand name.

If you do decide to buy diapers early I would recommend size 1/2 at sams club. Its an inbetween size and I have only seen it carried at sams and costco.

Thanks CHNST, he really is getting so big. Some pics he takes his face looks so grown up. I love that he is developing that independance factor but I always wish I "had my baby back" I wanna hug and cuddle and kiss...lol..Zaid SCREAMS if I kiss him when I drop him off to day care. He is not a cuddler at all! In fact he is a biter. I took something from his hands the other day and when I took it he screamed and went aggresively to bite my hand. BEAST i have I tell ya!!

I too agree, don't buy too many too early. We did and ended up having to exchange all the newborn diapers for Size 1. Lukily we knew before we even left the hospital they wouldn't fit. The hospital should provide you with plenty of diapers while you are there and a for couple days after.

I also agree that diapers that work for one don't work for others. We tried using generic diapers, but each time we tried they leaked something awful, except for the CVS brand Plushies. We tried Luvs and Huggies too, but they leaked as well. The only diaper I have found not to leak during the night is Pampers. I LOVED the Pampers Swaddlers, but unfortunately they don't make them big enough and we now use Baby Dry. I know some people swear by Diapers.com, but I have yet to see any where I would be saving any money. I can buy the same things at Walmart, Target or Babies R US for the same price, if not cheaper. Am I missing something ?

Kelly I LOVE the new pics of Zaid. Where are you having pics taken? My parents and I went all over trying to get pics of Ayman, but I refuse to pay $200+.

Twila hang in there! I hope your ride is over soon and you have double trouble in your arms.

Carrie, we have been to JCPenney 3 times now. If you get parent magazine or go online theres coupons that give you a free sitting fee, a free 8x10 and all tradition sheets for 3.99.....I get over 10 sheets of pics for less than 40$. I will say it kind of stink cuz you do have to wait 1.5 weeks to get the pics (As opposed to picture people/babies r us) where they give ya the pics right then and there. But again, picture people is 20$ a sheet...lol..

If you do go to JCPenney do not go on a weekend lol. Go after you get off work one night. They wil do 2 outfit changes and 2 diferent backdrops. They will take about 15 pics in each outfit and then about 10 minutes after your done with taking the pics they upload them to the comp and let you see all of them...They will make all these pretty enhancements and collages to try and get you to by them but we just always let them know were only buying the 3.99 sheets. Also at not charge they email all the pictures to you which is how I get them in my siggy, and email em out to relatives etc.

ETA. Nessa a newborn boy is very hard to get the hang of...Lol we ruined a lot of diapers his first 2 weeks. Just remember when he is super little to take the wet diaper off and immediately cover his peepee with the new diaper. When you are fastening the new diaper MAKE SURE you point his peepee downward. IF YOU DONT you will no sooner find a stream of pee going up his onsie. Im not sure what made this happen and it did stop after a few weeks, but its sooo stresful waking up in the middle of the night to change a screaming babys diaper and to turn around 10 seconds later and have to do it again.

WE started out with Parent's Choice diapers from Walmart, then White Cloud from Wal mart, then Target brand diapers. They are all about the same and unscented. In Germany I used Pampers, they are unscented (but only in Germany, here they smell funny) but stink once wet. Then we used Huggies which are really good but a little more pricey. We are stuck with Luvs now...even they smell but its ok and they don't stink when wet. I try to use cloth as often as possible but go back to one or two sposies a day.

@Nessa: Adam needed to be changed about 12 times a day. He was a pooper...with ever wet diaper he had a dirty one and needed to be changed at night about 4 times or so. It was draining. Allie on the other hand didn't poop as much (still doesn't) and didn't need changes during the night. She maybe needed only 8 changes a day. It differs.

About the sizes: I agree, don't buy too many in the same size. Adam only wore the NB for a couple of days. We had a 40 pack and only used half of it because he was so big. We went to size one right away and a week or two later switched to size two. We've been at a 5 for about a year now.

This is SOOOOOOOO true!!! You will learn how to change diapers very fast. And with girls, it's good to get the new diaper under their bottom as quick as you can. Some girls like too pee as soon as you get the old diaper off.

It is a good idea to change it before each time you feed, which if you are breastfeeding should be about every 2 - 3 hours (or more if the baby wants it) or if you are bottlefeeding about every 3 - 4 hours (or more if the baby wants it). That way when you are done feeding your baby, he will be able to sleep. I find that changing them after feeds wakes them up again. Sleep is very important for their growth.

However, sometimes they will poop after feeds, esp with breastfeeding since breastmilk is digested so rapidly. But your little boy will more than likely let you know when he needs his diaper changed.

We use Pampers. We tried other brands, generics and namebrands alike. We found that the Pampers work best for us. After the Swaddlers, which are awesome, we tried the BabyDry and the Cruisers. We like the Cruisers the best. Namebrands can be pricey, but I watch for sales and use coupons and have paid about the same as I would for generics. For example, about every 4 months or so our Superfresh will run their big boxes of Pampers on sale for $18.88. Then with coupons it's even less. They will limit the number you can buy in a single transaction, but you can also take their ad to Walmart and they will match it. So, I buy 4 or more boxes at a time. So far I have done fine with guessing at the sizes based on how quickly he gains weight. We are in size 4's right now and have been for quite a while. They still fit very well and I think we will probably be able to stay in them for another month or so at least.

I am very excited for you, Nessa. I think you will make a great mom.
