Definitely get a glider and ottoman, but watch out- you might have to kick hubby out of it A LOT. They are so comfy.

@Moms: I want to get rid of Ben's infant gear. Like the baby tub, Swing, Infant car seat, 1 stroller, Bassinet, and some other stuff that takes up a lot of room. I don't want to put in on ebay for the hassles of shipping. Any suggestions? Stores? Internet?

Check your area for baby consignment shops. There are some that pay decent prices for your things. Also Craig's List is an option.

Mom's, I'd appreciate an input!

We have a 4 month old baby-boy and we will need a babysitter in January as both my husband and I have to attend an appointment. The problem is that I am super anxious to leave my baby with anybody (other than my family, which is over the ocean... :crying: ).

My question is, how did you guys manage the fear of leaving your baby the first time with a babysitter and how did you find a good and reliable one? Did you go and check her and her home out before you gave her your baby to watch? What's the criteria whether she's reliable or not???

And, is it better to have the baby watched at your own house? What do you guys think?

If you want money for it then go try Craigslist although the consignment shop thing is a good idea. If you want to give it away you can look up the local chapter of Freecycle, or I just kinda waited until I heard of someone else who needed it.

and Mnieto - I was lucky enough to work with several people who had young babies and children so I just asked for some word of mouth personal recommendations and then went and met with various people until I felt good about someone. She's great :) . Do you have friends, acquaintances, coworkers, etc who you can poll?

how's everybody doing? I finally decided on the bedding theme:

pTRU1-4800449_alternate2_dt.jpg

It's not too bright or too babyish, but I love it, simple, blue and white. of course the wall will be green, not orange and that's not the furniture.

now for the furniture i've decided to go dar wood (either cherry, espresso or oak). I'm between these:

#1:

collection_tampa1.jpg

#2:

collection_manhattan1.jpg

#3:

collection_royale1.jpg

#4:

pTRU1-4835878_alternate1_dt.jpg

I like #1 & #3. I also like the color scheme of the first pix but also without the orange walls. I would put taupe instead.

i made a poll in the poll section, please vote. it's from babiesrus. i didn't want to buy anything i haven't seen (online doesn't count) and babiesrus is the only place they shw the furniture, so i'll buy from them. of course after choosing those 4 i googled to see if i could find in other places cheaper, but they don't have it like on walart, or aafes or target, etc.

one brand is baby cache and they only seel at babiesrus. the other is babi italia (#4) and i'm pretty much decided i don't want that.

@mnieto: I hear you. My little boy is 8 months old and I still have troubles trusting anyone but the grandparents... I am going back to college in january full time so we are in the same boat looking for child care. It's hard to find the right person, but I would insist on a background check, reference checks, an interview where she will spend some time with my son and I definitely prefer someone coming to our house to watch Ben. At least he will be in his familiar surroundings while we are gone. Also, that way you have the option to set up a nanny cam if you want. (I know it sounds paranoid...)

I think it's important to pay a fair salary with some benefits. I don't think a unhappy babysitter will do a great job.

Luckily my mother InLaw will be able to watch the Baby every once in a while, and my campus has a great day care, so we will only need someone once or twice a week. If you only have to leave him for one appointment, I'd get someone who can take care of him at your place.

@Ant: congrats on the pregnancy!

@Nessa: do you have a BuyBuy Baby nearby? I think they have a bigger selection, although that makes choosing even harder!

Just an update from my part of the world: The peri didn't like my blood pressure at my appointment on Friday. He sent me to L/D for monitoring. I got put into the hospital that afternoon for monitoring. Well...this afternoon, the ob covering for mine (she is on vacation this week) has put me on hospital bedrest until the babies are born. I asked him how long he thought I had and he said he feels 10 days at most until double trouble arrive! Hicham and I are getting excited to meet Hana and Zak face to face!
