Anna: Ben weighs 22 pounds and he just fit in the bassinet, although it seemed that he was too big for it. But I'd suggest that you reserve a bassinet seat anyway because you will have way more legroom!

We checked one bag for Ben and gate-checked the stroller and carseat. That is no problem if you have an umbrella stroller.

if you are flying into Berlin tegel, they don't gate-check anything. I was pissed because the stroller came out dented and dirty. On the way back we had a layover in switzerland and had to pick up the stroller from the baggage area and then gate check it again.

I had baby food in the diaper bag and they didn't even want to look at it.

rclouse: congratulations!!!

Carolyn. I started zaid on cereal from a spoon at 3.5 months. He was a hungry child and consuming waaay too much formula. We kind of just played around with it til he got the hang of swallowing/eating from a spoon. At 4.5 months we started stage one veggies and then about 3 weeks later some fruits. The only thing I do remember my ped telling me was something about breastfed babies lack the iron so the cereal helps with that bc it is iron fortified. Maybe that might be something that has to be considered

Kavi started cereal at 4 months(well 1 day shy of it) after our visit to the pediatrician, and he did good with it. I only gave it to him once a day for a couple weeks though, and then added more. He is not a very big eater(still!) so getting him to eat a lot of baby/ finger food is hard sometimes.

@ Nessa: Cute pics! Did you get a DVD? My DS always had his hands in front of his face too. Is his head down yet (I know it's early) - at 24 weeks DS decided to move into birthing position and remained that way....

@ rcluse: Congratz :) Love the name!

@ Chnst: Flying to FRA... Direct flight... We'll see! Lufthansa won't let me book the bassinet seat directly... I have to buy the tickets and then call em... Apparently it's also first come first serve with them, so I'll show up 3 hours before boarding time... ANd bring MIL to hang out at the airport, she'll love it. I won't bring a carseat, my parents bought one (my dad will pick us up)... But I will travel with my Teutonia stroller... It is bigger, but whatever. They will have to accomodate us, period.

@ Starting solids: Don't start the cereal unless your baby is really showing signs of readiness (being hungry, no tongue thrust, sitting up unassisted, grabbing for food - obviously being interested in food). Some kids are ready earlier than others. My niece didn't start solids until 8 months. Don't force it on him... Many peds believe that starting too early can trigger allergies. I'll skip cereal alltogether, it's really constipating (lots of iron in there!). I'm planning on starting with yams and avocados and take it from there... Check out what kellymom.com says about solids - it's great advice!

[Happy Holidays Everyone!

I didn't get a c-section date at my ob appointment yesterday, but she basically told me just two more weeks! The ob and my peri want me to make it to 36 weeks and chances are the babies will be mature enough for no NICU stay. So...just keep reminding me...two more weeks, two more weeks, two more weeks!

Amber decide to do a 180 a week before she was due, wanted to come out feet first, daughter-in-law was apprehensive, normally keep my mouth shut, but attempting a natural birth like this can be a disaster. She recovered remarkably quick and Amber came out without oxygen deprivation. The bikini cuts they use today are barely visible and good to have a doctor that knows how to sew, straight. Already know people that had to put up with a retarded child the rest of their lives, quite a price to pay.
