I buy the store brand of diapers at Costco, I actually like them better for fit and leakproof-ness ( :P is that a word??) than any of the name brands and they are way cheaper to get them there....

I've been using Costco diapers, too. The only downside is that they don't make newborn size diapers, and my little guy was only 6 1/2 pounds at birth. I think he wore newborn diapers for the first 2 months.

I also like Costco wipes. Inexpensive and just as good as the Pampers.

:) So true... I'm saying that watching my son playing with his playgym while the cat is relentlessly attacking the Christmas tree.... I water-bottle-spray her, but she just shrugs and doesn't care. Oh well

Diapers: I liked the Pampers Swaddlers, but they just come until size 2. We had to buy size Preemie in the first weeks (he weighed 5lb 10oz - I can't believe he know weighs 19.3 pounds!) We are at size 3 now. Babydry doesn't leak, but they stink - there is some perfume or something in there, and Jona got quite a rash from it. I treated it for 8 weeks before it dawned on me to change diapers. I tried gDiapers (too messy and won't flush here), 7th generation (decent) and Huggies Natural Fit (my fave because as good as 7th Gen but cheaper - I know they are not environmentally sound, but my babe comes first, then other considerations). As for wipies - I started out with perfume-free and non-irritant wipes (7th Generation, now we use Tushies - they are wonderful and cheaper). For my baby shower someone gave me Pampers sensitive wipes - it says "no fragrance" but if you read the list of ingredients - fragrance (to mask odors, seriously, that's what it said on the package!). We just used those as wet toilet paper for us :P

If you wanna know ingredients and their evaluation (esp. interesting if you have a sensitive baby or allergies in the family) check here:

not exactly. there's way more to do that we don't need to do for the cats, like lid locks for the toilet, don't let things laying around and put away things that we don't worry about right now, like scissors, unplug things we're not using, put safety plug in outlets, etc

It is super uncommon but technically possible. Especially if you don't breastfeed your are very likely to ovulate again and resume your periods (breastfeeding suppresses ovulation - for some women longer than others, I haven't had a period yet). You technically can ovulate within the first 4 weeks after birth....

And yes, you bleed after birth - but again, it varies from woman to woman. I had it for 7 weeks, I know people who only had it for 3 weeks. Though every doctor in this world will tell you not to hm engage in baby-making activities for about 6 weeks postpartum...

I know 2 people with kids 11 months apart who will tell you that the no ovulating while breastfeeding is a big myth :P I also have a girlfriend who got pregnant twice while on the pill.

Nessa, a lot of babyproofing depends on your individual child. I had to babyproof very little with my son because he was just so good - I would tell him 'no' one time and that was it! He was totally happy and absorbed with his toys and generally left most everything else alone. My daughter, however, seems to be into EVERYTHING. I say she must be an octopus because she needs 8 hands to get into all the things she gets in to, and when we tell her no she just gets a naughty little grin and speed crawls away. She can climb over or onto anything, open any door, etc. So naturally we've had to take a few more precautions with her but mainly just safety things - I put a cabinet lock on the door with the cleaning supplies and the medicines but left the doors to the pots, pans and tupperware open because she loves to get in there and she thinks she's really getting away with something....

Hi Girls!

Hope everybody is doing well, specially little Declan and Twila.

I've been talking to some friends and my hubby too and we've decided not to go for the Lamaze classes, I know I'm going to yell, scream and curse at my poor hubby hahahaha no, seriously we are are thinking that instead of that we can go for the 4d US, I just need to find out where in NYC can we go for that and the price. I'll start searching on line for that.

Momies and Mommies to be> I'm thinking about starting my registry soon but you think is better to go to the store in person?? or is the same thing if we do it on line?? Is going to be at Babies R Us and I have the feeling that the baby shower is going to be in February.

I'm doing ok, just waking up in the middle of the night with cramps  and feeling really heavy, another thing, I cannot find a good position to go to sleep, any recommendation??

Nessa> My mom got pregnant with my sister when my brother was 6 months old, so its possible..

Gotta go,

take girls Amigas

autum: I hope Declan's surgery went well today!! Hopefully he will recover quick!

From the kellymom site:

What is normal when it comes to pumping output and changes in pumping output?

Most moms who are nursing full-time are able to pump around 1/2 to 2 ounces total (for both breasts) per pumping session. Moms who pump more milk per session may have an oversupply of milk, or may respond better than average to the pump, or may have been able to increase pump output with practice. Many moms think that they should be able to pump 4-8 ounces per pumping session, but even 4 ounces is an unusually large pumping output.

It is quite normal to need to pump 2-3 times to get enough milk for one feeding for baby (remember that the pump cannot get as much milk as a baby who nurses effectively).

Many moms are able to pump more milk per session when they are separated from baby. Milk pumped when you are nursing full-time is "extra" milk -- over and beyond what baby needs. Don't get discouraged if you are trying to build up a freezer stash when nursing full time and don't get much milk per pumping session -- this is perfectly normal and expected. It is very common to have more milk than baby needs in the early weeks, which regulates down to baby's needs over the first few weeks or months. When your <A href="http://www.kellymom.com/bf/supply/breast-fullness.html" target=_blank>milk supply regulates (this change may occur either gradually or rather suddenly), it is normal for pumping output to decrease. For moms who have oversupply, this change often occurs later (6-9+ months postpartum rather than 6-12 weeks).

I like that article! I was pumping the other day for the babysitter and I was shocked when it took me 40 minutes for a mere 2oz!

@Vi: go directly to the store for your registry. You can look at things yourself and they give you a giftbox with trial things att babies R Us. I like Pottery Barn Kids, and Buy Buy Baby but it all depends if these stores are witin reach of the aunts and friends who will do the shopping. :P

Kudos for not doing Lamaze! We didn't either but it doesn't hurt to brush up on the delivery basics. We got a DVD and learned more than we anticipated. :o

as for sleeping: get a body pillow. I was so in love with mine, I named it Bob. Hubby is still jealous because I cuddled more with Bob than with him the entire pregnancy.

Diapers: I love 7th generation. we used swaddlers and the super soft huggies when he was a newborn and from size 2 and up switched to 7th gen. They are the brown clorine free diapers. I used Tushie wipes for while until Buy Buy Baby stopped selling them. Then we went on to Pampers sensitive.

Hi everyone!

I hope Declan is recovering well. :star:

AFM: I am hanging in there. Our DSL modem died Saturday morning so we had to wait until the phone company sent us a replacement today. I ended up going to L/D on Saturday because I didn't feel my super active baby moving for the previous day and a half. It turns out she is moving, just not as drastically as before. However, our son was being very unreactive. They tried to get him to move 3 times by using a sound device. He decided he wanted no part of it. So...we got sent down for a biophysical profile. He came a minute from failing. He is just way too mellow. He was fairly unreactive at the peri's the other day so they did an u/s of him, his placenta, and his umbilical cord to make sure all was well. I just have a stubborn son. I told my husband he needs to have a talk with him and tell him how he needs to respect his mom. Other than that, I am getting to that point that this pregnancy can not be over soon enough -- the nausea, the pelvic pain, the backache and leg aches -- I can tell my body is getting ready for the big day.
