I got a question: what are my chances of finding a job (any job) at about 25 weeks pregnant?

I'm from Germany and as Anne said its almost impossible to get hired when you're pregnant over there.

I work full time now,(NYC) but the job is extremely stressful and the hours are crazy (55-60/week) and I am thinking about quitting but I'm anxious about applying for new jobs... how do I mention my pregnancy when applying? I'm planning to take 3-6 months maternity leave and then go back to school so I am only looking for a job between January and April/May. :help:

@cravings..

i had chinese (the low mei noodles or whatever they are called :whistle: ) and big mac.. :whistle: yummmy :thumbs:

pickles, popcorn, yello, pudding and crean cheese.. yummmy

@chnst..

mhh the only thing u could try is at the mall.. most stores hire now for X-mas and they take preggers girls too.. :whistle:

last year right before i quit my job at sears they hired 7 preggers girls (between 15 and 25week) and they all left begining february..

(most stores hire from november till february) and if u are good they will "keep" u..

sears had a policy that if u are over 30 weeks then u need a docs note..

plus the good thing about that is u get the discount and all ur shopping and baby shopping is much cheaper.. :lol:

man i miss my discount.. :( ((i had a 30% one and lets just say i saved a lot of money :whistle: ))

btw good luck at ur U/S tomorrow and let us know if its blue or pink :whistle:

BTW, people keep asking me if I am having any cravings and I really hadn't .... until yesterday ... for egg drop soup from the Chinese place ... and I don't even really like egg drop soup!!!!!

For weeks I craved hot and sour soup with sweet and sour sauce in it. I was making the girls at the office order in Chinese food at least twice a week there for awhile. It was almost a sideshow to watch me guzzle gallons of spicy sweet soup.

LOL. I LOVE hot and sour soup ... I wish that was what I was craving!!! Egg drop soup always used to gross me out a bit ... I thought it was too slimy .... but now I am loving the stuff!!! Poor hubby is REALLY sick of Chinese for dinner every night :)

BelwinMills-It was around 20 weeks but mostly afterwards when I felt confident that I was feeling the baby and not other stuff like gas bubbles, lol. You probably are feeling the baby already but it's not strong enough to be definite for you. And when you move around, it disguises the baby's movements.

The things that I like to eat everyday are milk and cereal, chocolate milk, and cheese, preferably extra sharp cheddar. :)

I haven't had any crazy cravings. There haven't really been things that I wanted for days at a time besides the above. Sometimes I'd crave something for one day and eat it, and the next day I didn't want it anymore. I really thought I'd crave pickles, but I didn't!

The thing i have been craving BIG TIME is Vick's Vapor Rub.. all i do is smell it all day long LOL.

I think i felt the baby move at about 21 weeks, which i believe is quite late for a second pregnancy! It felt like little gas bubbles, Also my placenta is in the front (Anterior) of my tummy with this one and that's why i could not feel him for a while.

Joel's wife, i hope your little one does ok today, hugs to him.

Apparently some cravings are pretty common.

LADIES I NEED SOME ADVICE :help:

My due date is tomorrow and I don't see him being born this weekend. Doc said she will sweep my membranes on Monday if I'm not in active labor before then :( and I don't want to go thru that. I've tried eating the famous Preggo Pizza from Skipolini's, acupressure in the webbing between thumb and index finger, sitting and bouncing on the exercise ball, walking (when weather permits) and sex...still nothing. I bought some castor oil yesterday and that is my last desperate attempt (still haven't worked up the nerve to drink it yet *yuck*) to get this labor started. Any suggestions?

Jonesie,

Don't worry. The first baby is very rarely born on a due date, especially boys. Usually they like to sit a little bit longer. Give it a few days and he will come out by himself. Most of the women I know gave birth within a week after their due date.

I know how hard it is to be patient now.

I'm a student midwife and a mother of almost 4, so I feel somewhat qualified to answer this! LOL

First up let me tell you that the membrane sweep usually is not TOO uncomfortable, it is much nicer having you go into labor with that than the pictocin, that stuff is harsh.

Leave the castor oil to be your LAST resort, try the following;

Have sex - the prostaglandins in spermies are fantastic at ripening the cervix;

Tug on your nipples for 20 minutes each side each hour. This will stimulate a positive feedback mechanism which will start up your contractions stronger and more rythmic.

Go for a big walk, the weight of the baby bouncing on your cervix helps too.

Failing all of that, go for the castor oil... Good luck!!

I wouldn't be in a hurry, I was a week late (it was my first pregnancy) .... had my membranes stripped three times and nothing...... they had to break my water to get the labour started so I wouldn't worry.....

baby will come when it is right, hang in there (F)
