Naaaahh. That is why they do the due date US so early because then they all develop the same. Later on they do their own thing. Considering it is a boy he might be big. Adam was almost 9lbs when he was born, but then again Allie wasn't too little either for a girl.

Did you know that there is nOTHING you can do to influence wether your baby will be 5lbs or 10lbs at birth? You can starve yourself but baby might still be a 10lbs baby...chunky monkey. I'm guessing 8lbs 7oz, haha.

@Nessa: don't worry. You'll be fine!

@Kelly: I don't like the walkers. We have stairs and we already have an exersaucer that he's not too interested in. He loves the bouncy airplane that hooks to the doorframe. His feet just barely touch the ground and he loves jumping in it. Maybe the In Laws could get him a walker so we can try it at their house.

To all the nursing moms: when did you start weaning/ substituting with other fluids? My pediatrician was shocked at the 7 month check up that I'm still breastfeeding and that he doesn't eat 3 meals of cereal every day.

I feed him a little oatmeal and one jar of the earths best fruit in the morning and a jar of veggies or avocado at night.

Either veggis or fruit for lunch. he gets super constipated if I feed him any cereals other than oatmeal.

@Chrissy: when is your due date? I found out on dec.18 of last year the sex of my baby! how exiting!!

I started giving Adam a sippy to play with at around 5 months. I had a little water in it and he sucked on it and then spit the water back out. He had tons of fun with that. Fruit and veggies I started at around 6 months but I was very lazy getting three meals together. I think until 8 months he mainly had breakfast and dinner if I wasn't too lazy. Mostly he only had breakfast substituted. He started three meals a day at around 10 months and then I stuck with it since I was pregnant again and knew that he was going to wean himself off eventually.

Evi: ok, thank you, I just thought that maybe he isn't getting enough anymore because he wakes up at least every other hour at night to eat now and the pedi said that he'd need more cereal and meat for the protein and iron. I'm not too worried about that, just not sure if I should give him any fluids on top of that.

What kind of sippy cup did you use? One with a soft spout? or just a plastic cup?

Chnst. We have been giving zaid a sippy cup with water or diluted juice since 5 months. He's cute with it and loves it after his dinner. We use the gerber soft spouts. They are green and blue and have 2 handles. I couldn't imagine waking up every 2 hours to feed! More power to ya! Zaid sleeps a solid 10 hours (in exception to last night lol) and I'm so grateful for that! Having stairs in the house would scare me too! We have a ranch thankfully so zaid just kind of strolls thru the whole house!

Nessa. Zaid was small at my 20 week ultrasound and came out 9lbs and 21 inches so I wouldn't take bets yet on his size. It seems though for some reason the baby boys on this forum have been big boys at birth. Wonder if your baby will keep the trend?

Well I'm typing via my blackberry at work, I should probably go do something productive, lol

We started out with the Nuby silicone spout one. we got it as a gift so I just offered it to Adam one day. He was ok with it, since you only have to bite on the spout to get water out. Then I think we moved on to Gerber Soft spouts and born free learners cups (they leak though when turned upside down...don't like that). I can only recommend the Gerber Sip-n-smile...love them.

If you are worried about iron etc. maybe you can give him a vitamin. I never knew that there's no iron in breastmilk and then Adam was anemic at his 1year checkup. He's getting a vitamin now and I also try to give him more meat.

Wait until we start talking about hemmoroids and afterbirths :whistle::rofl::rofl: .

Congratulations Dad. How far along is your wife?

She'll be 20 weeks tomorrow. Don't know the gender yet, but her ultrasound will be Dec 17. I'm glad the first few months are over for her, she was feeling crabby and nauseas everyday.

Aaaw poor girl. I'm glad she's doing better. Hope you two can enjoy the pregnancy. I loooove being pregnant. I'd be 20 weeks pregnant forever, haha. Just kidding. As much as I love being 20 weeks pregnant, I hate being 41 weeks pregnant. :lol:

I love all the new baby pics!!!

Thanks for the advice ladies, I guess I will get Ben his first sippy cup! He's driving us crazy at night, esp now that he's super heavy to pick up out of his crib when you are sleepy. :wacko:

Kelly- I'd pay almost any price for a solid 6-8 hours of sleep. Hasn't happened once since Ben was born. :crying:

@Eric: welcome and congrats!!

@Nessa: it's not the weight that matters, it's length too. If the baby is 9 or 10 pounds heavy it makes a difference if it is evenly divided lengthwise. But don't worry. I had a big baby and a pretty ugly birth, but I made it and I'm not afraid of having another one! I was terrified of the whole delivery but it was more the uncertain-ness (sp??) of the procedure and whether I'm going to be able to handle the pain (I'm a sissy!)

Yes it does hurt and yes it is messy, no matter if you have a 4 pound baby or a 10 pound baby. But it is usually just a matter of a few hours and it is one of the most amazing experiences in your life!

Sorry ... i like to digress... :wacko:

@Yaads: I didn't have any signs. I didn't even have any signs until I was 7 weeks preggers. I knew I was in trouble when I started bawling my eyes out after watching a toilet paper commercial with puppies.

I really didn't feel anything until 8-9 weeks. I was slightly nauseaus. And my belly seemed huge the minute I took the test. :blush: Good luck to you!

I second that. The birth will almost never be as you imagine it. There's always something that you don't take into consideration. You'll forget about the pain right after baby is out. It's amazing how fast you forget it - and then you'll want another one sooner than you think :lol:

Girls!!!

How is everybody today???? It's pretty cold in NYC and today was a little crazy near my job, it's located just one block from the Rockefeller center tree and today is the famous lighting of the tree, the police closed streets and there were huge lines just to cross the street.

Yesterday before going to bed we were talking to the baby and I felt her moving I put Sil's hand over the belly and our little one super kicked! it was really hard and my husband jumped too so funny and silly Sil said:" Oh my God there is a life inside of you!" really? I didn't know that honey.... :wacko: .

About the baby shower I think mine is going to be in February, I think is going to be a surprise from my in laws, let's see I'll keep you inform 'cause I'm very good ruining surprises. Yes, Baby's R Us is definitely THE STORE.

We are planning to speak both languages in the house, at first the baby will spend most of the time with me so it will be just spanish and then Sil will speak just english to Sofia we want her to be bilingual too. :thumbs:

We have our ultrasound on Saturday, I want my Dr. to reconfirm that we are having a girl, the other doctor said that 99.9% that is a girl, and after this appointment I'll start with serious shopping for my little one.

Here I'm posting some pics I hope it works

* At the beach, when I was 3 weeks pregnant without knowing it...

* At the beginning of my 4th month, now I'm almost in my 5th (Sunday)

Zaidmommy: Love his pictures!
